re: GLP-1s found to greatly reduce cancer progression rate in advanced cancers

Been around and studied for 25 years now. Tell us again when the long term horrible side effects are going to start.
Sure, new versions continue to be developed…that typically are safer and more effective than previous versions.

re: Am I Essentially Doomed To Weight Loss/Diabetes Medicine?

Seek the guidance of a doctor that specializes in obesity and has a good track record in treating the disease. PCPs tend to have very broad knowledge bases. They are not specialized though. If you were diagnosed with heart disease, would you seek the guidance of a cardiologist? Of course. Would you start taking heart medicine and say “I plan to stop taking the heart meds once they prove to be effective?” Of course not. This isn’t that different.
The answer is to do all of the things. Healthy diet(not fad diets, starving yourself, etc). Nutrient rich balanced diet is THE optimal approach. Exercise regularly. Get help from a specialist.

There is ZERO support for GLP-1s having causation for muscle loss. None.
Good MDs that prescribe GLP-1s should also be advising and assisting patients with resources and plans for diet and exercise. Muscle loss is the result of a lack of physical activity. Not taking the meds.
Plenty of people that take the meds also frequently do not exercise. It’s that lack of exercise that causes muscle loss. Not the medicine. It’s a very important distinction.

This thread is so full of stupid it’s hard to read.
Long term side effects is NOT an unknown. We know. GLP-1s have been used for around 25 years to treat diabetes. The exact same medicine many of you are acting like just came out. The. Exact. Same. Medicine. We know that it’s generally extremely safe. In fact, we now know it has several extremely beneficial side effects.
Remember a few years ago everyone was clamoring that GLP-1s are causing heart issues? Wrong. Now proven to improve cardiovascular health(aside from and in addition to the indirect weight loss benefits on cardiovascular health). Also helps break addiction cycles by affecting the conditioning feedback loop in the reward center of the brain(including with alcoholism, nicotine, nail biting, gambling, etc). New versions of the medicine have been developed, sure. But acting like there are huge unknowns is rage bait fear mongering bullsh!t. And completely asinine. The medicine is extremely safe, especially when weighed against inaction. The disease of obesity, however, is not safe. Just like cardiovascular disease, liver disease, and so on. It’s not different just because society has conditioned your brains to think it is.
I get such a kick out of ignorant people holding such emotionally charged opinions about weight loss medicine. Let’s all start attacking people with heart disease for taking heart medicine? How dare they! They should just “will power a cure” like everyone with obesity should do. Amirite? It’s not as different as you think. Social stigma and conditioning are the ONLY reasons many of you think the way you do about this. Medicine has far surpassed the archaic “it’s a will power issue” argument. It’s beyond dumb to still maintain that old mindset. Do some people possess enough willpower to overcome the disease of obesity without any surgical or medicinal intervention? Sure. Is it fair to act like everyone can and should “will power” through a medical illness that is biological and genetic? Of course not. Why do so many people attack people with obesity and not people with other diseases like cancer or heart disease?
It is also hilarious how many people bash “fatties” for taking GLP-1s and in the same breath talk about how they should take peptides instead because peptides work great for them. The level of ignorance is truly astounding in so many loudmouths on this subject. The same ignorant people can’t take the time to learn what GLP-1 even stands for. Hint, the P is for Peptide.
To be clear, my position is firmly that the vast majority of people are absolutely ignorant on this subject but choose to act like they know what they are talking about. But they don’t. At all. However, that doesn’t mean I do not support and advise healthy living habits like regular exercise, balanced diet, avoidance of unnatural preservatives and processed foods, etc. Those are also extremely important. As important as treating the disease of obesity with all tools, including weight loss medicine.

Longines has always been an amazing bang for buck option. They make beautiful watches with very good in house movements.
Longines new Hydroconquest model is on a whole new level. May be the best overall value in watches on the market today. Many new options and all are total bangers. I bought one already and will buy at least one more. Most have been sold out since right after launch. My next one will be either “Cookie Monster” or the the gray bezel.
Go check them out for sure.

Copy that. This feels so wrong on so many levels

Overcooking the meat is almost universal. Many have learned that the high temp over required time for seasoning is a problem and try to combat it by adding ice(dilutes) or watering the sides of the pot(inventions have been made for this).

No matter what, I would surely not like this article if I’m Back. There are a lot of awful people, capable of horrific things, that would take possession of both him and loved ones to work on pain receptors and psyche in order to make an attempt at obtaining even a small fraction of what those coins are worth. Even if the belief is that it was only a 1% chance he’s the guy. Odds are far higher than 1% that Back is Satoshi.
You SHOULD give them at same time. Multimodal pain management is advised if pain level is above what using only one is expected to manage alone.
It’s doable and looks amazing. Bigger pavers are absolutely the way to go. Maybe do 30x30. Unlikely to regret this imho

Richard Dickey MD LSU Urology. Google it.
Dick Dickey. This reality is better than any fiction posted.
For legit rec, would need more discovery to answer. May not be the same MD for any and all things “Urology.”

re: Ketamine Therapy
Posted by BawtHouse on 10/1/25 at 8:26 pm to AUTiger1978
There absolutely is legitimacy to the use of ketamine for therapeutic purposes. It’s like many other medicines. Huge potential for benefit. Long history of abuse. One doesn’t invalidate the other. If you are the patient in this setting, your care should be managed by a general practitioner you trust. Let them make the decision if ketamine therapy is worth pursuing. Its effectiveness is more highly probable in treating certain disorders more so than others.
Don’t start with what you think the solution is. Start by understanding the problem. And let someone more highly qualified than you decide the proper course of treatment for your situation. Whatever it may be. Emphasize getting the diagnosis correct before acting on treatment. Doing so will shorten the time between now and positive outcomes.

There’s nothing to agree or disagree with. It’s factual. Not really up for debate. Oil is subsidized. Taxes pay for all of it. The argument I think Billj is making is that what’s fair for oil should be fair for renewables. Why is it ok for tax dollars to subsidize oil and not renewables?
I’ll add this. If our species’ rate of energy consumption exceeds the earth’s rate of producing fossil fuels, won’t we have to address that? Why not now? Renewables has the math in favor of long terms solutions. Fossil fuels does not.
Agreements and disagreements can be had about how and when. But the why isn’t pretty well cemented at this point.

Mostly true. Which is sad, because there is bad stuff here that needs to be dealt with. Instead, let’s hit warp speed in the wrong direction and go off a cliff. Its dumdum status at this point rowled up by hate and fear of jews. I know plenty. They aren’t so bad lol. But, by all means, let’s keep our focus on an imaginary boogie man instead of staying rooted in reality.

Very few disagree that pedos should be found and prosecuted.
Spiraling out with assumptions and conspiracy theories is when it gets dangerous. By all means, press hard to have Epstein files released. All for that.
But for the love of god, please stop treating big assumptions as if they are facts. It’s very dangerous to fall off that cliff. The message gets lost and loses credibility when it’s shrouded in conspiracy and huge leaps of assumption.
Push for what matters. Release the files. Prosecute. But stick to facts and stop floating off into conspiracy world that is almost certainly not true.

Who needs facts when you have a great story, amirite?
You have managed to mount multiple conspiracy theories on top of each other.
1. Trump is a pedophile that knew what Epstein was doing and was part of it. Ok, there circumstantial evidence to make that leap IF YOU ADMIT you are making an assumption. You are not. You are acting like this is fact.
2. You managed to level up the kookiness by pulling Israel conspiracy into it. That requires another big assumption(of which there are zero facts to support) that Israel controlled Epstein, he was an asset, and it was all part of an elaborate plan. Ok, Israel is smart as frick, so it is possible(the beeper thing opened a lot of our eyes to capabilities). But, again, there is zero evidence to support this at all.
3. You leveled up the dumdum again. Now the assumptive leap is that our entire government is controlled by Israel. This has become a regular talking point, and it’s absolutely ridiculous. There is zero evidence to support it.
The problem is that this is where we are now as a country. A good narrative is more important than facts. Start seeking facts and stop parroting ridiculous stories that have no factual basis is reality. I’m not saying horrible crap doesn’t happen in this world. There is plenty of it. What you are doing caused a distraction to the real problems we need to fix. You are part of the real problem.

Let’s just be clear.
If someone makes an accusation, and you can’t disprove that accusation, we are to take that to mean the accusation is true?
The entire argument for this is based on a premise that is nothing more than an accusation. There is zero evidence to support the claim being made. There is also zero evidence to disprove it. This doesn’t mean it is true.
We now live in a country that largely doesn’t value truth any more. Pretending to value truth while screaming about conspiracy theories that have zero evidentiary support is where we are. And it’s dangerous. We are intellectually devolving as a people at the same time AI is starting to seep into our daily lives.
The future generations won’t understand the concept of truth like those that came before us did. And that’s incredibly sad for our species.
The boogie man continues to reign king in many of your lives, and the multiple forms of the boogie man are robbing you of your free thinking, time you should be enjoying your families, and worse.

Step back and assess what she truly values at this point. Learn what leverage you have. I don’t mean it in a bad way. Manipulating a situation to better her and your family is honorable and respectful. Find the leverage and use it, ethically, to get her into therapy with you. And do a ton of research to make sure you pick a very good and well established therapist. Not Bobby Sue’s aunt’s neighbor.
It will be hard for her to hear you. A third party unbiased observer that is well trained is your best bet. Don’t go at it alone. Seek help. Quality help. A bad therapist is worse than no therapist.
She probably has not properly dealt with the loss and trauma. It can eat someone from the inside out. Most people avoid it, which is the worse thing to do. That doesn’t make it go away. It allows it to fester beneath the skin. Get infected. And can destroy both the mind and body.
Please know that as bad as it feels like things are right now, they could be far worse. Your timing is spot on to intervene. You are going through a very difficult time. Your wife, the love of your life, is also going through a very difficult time. She has experience significant loss. And it sounds like her Dad gave her major trauma that is now wrapped up in loss.
A first step might be to write her a letter(you could also show her the post you made teaching out for help on TD—-where the % of real and non tldr responses will be a bit low). Pour your heart out. But write this letter in a way that she will best receive it. Write it for her eyes and heart and not from your fist and gut. Wait a few days, and then read it. Make sure the wording is not aggressive. You don’t want her to get defensive when reading it. However, you can make your points. Come from love. And sadness. And fear.
A letter lets you carefully script your message and wording to land softly and most effectively. Start by telling her things you love about her. Then tell her things you miss about her. Express yourself. And make sure to end the letter with hope. Knowing you are hopeful things will get better is key(and it implies there is another direction this can go—-which is likely some leverage you have).
I’m very sorry you are going through this. My heart goes out to you and your family. May better times be soon upon you.
