In my opinion Not as high quality as they were before the 2000s, but still good for off-the-rack stuff. The jackets are fully lined at least.

Fit well. They had a two for one deal a couple years back. No regrets.

Not sure on the suits, they were always good for me a few years ago. But, I think it's kind of accepted the shirts and quality of some other things are in the tank.

They used to be good 20-25 years ago and had some nicer Italian made ones somewhat recently but their quality has unfortunately dropped.

I’d go to Dillard’s and get a Hart Schafer Marx or if you want to spend 4 figures a Hickey Freeman for a quality off the rack suit

Most are pretty good quality but the fit may be a bit, wider, for slim/athletic builds

If you know your sizes, check Spier and Mackay online - good quality stuff and fits for reasonable prices

I like them, for what it is worth. Upscale brand, decent to excellent fabric, understated style, and fairly durable. Not as luxurious as Brioni or Cucineli or some swanky savile row house, but an above average every day suit for work. Obviously somewhat depends on the cut and fabric you are purchasing. Have several. Really like their Oxford shirts as well. Just my view.

Lined or canvassed? I feel like the former should be a given, but the latter would pleasantly surprise me.

Simple answer.

Does it fit you the way you like? Do you want to wear it?

If both of those answers are yes, then just wear it

Not once in my entire life have i ever given AF about what type of suit another guy was wearing

Quality is not as good as vintage BB, they but were the staple American cut suit... they are boxer for more room for the typical American male body

Hickey Freeman shut down their NY factory a couple years back and outsource production / make cheaper suits now too, regrettably.

That’s a shame. I know they made everything at their factory in Rochester and the tags always said “Made in the USA of imported fabric” but last time I was shopping I saw some that said “made in Canada” so that checks out

Unfortunately hart schafner Marx is the same, was all USA made but now outsourced. But they’re about half the price of Hickey Freeman. I’m not paying high prices for cheaper quality

I have about 10 Hart Schafer Marx sport coats and rotate them with several pair of Nike and Adidas golf pants with Eton dress shirts and I do fine. Full on suits are old and dated to me.

They've been in business for a very long time. President Chester Arthur used to get his suits there.

Retired now. Wore them in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Really high quality suits then. Don’t know now.

I think Lincoln was inaugurated and assassinated in brooks brothers.

Teddy Roosevelt wore Brooks brothers in the Spanish-American war.

Brooks brothers has been around since 1818, they are a part of American history.

J. Press is another good option. I don’t have any suits from them, but have a good quality Oxford and a repp tie that have held up
