I conducted several tests of hitting someone in the back while they crossed their eyes. Never got stuck like that.
My mom went to her grave convinced that if youn sneeze with your eyes open, your eyes will pop out. Not sure we ever busted that one since it seems impossible to do.

Before the Internet and before the term "urban myth" was coined we heard this stuff by word of mouth or poorly xeroxed warnings posted on bulletin boards. Some of the first ones I remember were the blue star LSD tattoo paper being given out to children, razor blades in Halloween candy and the poor chump who woke up in a bathtub full of ice with his kidneys missing. These tales always seemed incredible to me and my friends would be mad at me for not believing their repeated shite.

When I went to camp as a kid, the counselors told us there was a chemical that reacted with pee to make pool water around you turn blue.
After being told that, I knew I had to test it out.
Also fire alarm ink. They told us in school that the fire alarm would spray you with ink if you pulled it.
I really wanted to test that.

It was passed around as true that if you had a dream you were falling and hit the ground in your dream that you would die. I remember that I questioned how anyone would know if that happened. My friends looked at me like I was crazy and was just asking for it.
