I still ride the Gary Fisher Tassajara mountain bike I bought in 1995 or 96.
I have the same.

I currently ride a Masi Vincere. Nothing special, but I like it alright. I'm currently looking to buy or build either a single speed cx or ss 29er. Would be used mostly on roads/city with light trails occasionally. Leaning steel rigid 28er, but who knows, they don't give em away. (Any advice?)

Specialized Fuse Comp. It does everything I need it to do. I can ride around the neighborhood, trails, or on the beach.

Not sure of the brand but I think the model is called "Your Mom"

Kawasaki 1600CC Nomad. On my second one and have been over a lot of the U.S. on them over the years with the Rockies, Smokies and Ozarks being my favorite destinations. Nothing like the twisties of the Ozarks and Smokies and then the long, wide sweepers of the Rockies, where the geography changes pretty often in vastly different rock formations.

I'd go with a steel cross bike. You could even do a gravel grinder ride. If you are looking budget friendly, This Motobecane is 4130 Chromoly. That is a great buy for a steel SS Xbike LINK
All I'd recommend is update the tires at this point, probably saddle too. Most bikes with 4130 Chromoly frames start at $400.

I am not a biker, we all have entry level Specialized. I got a rock hopper, it is not a great bike for touring the neighborhood. My wife got a Specialized hybrid, it is soooo much more comfortable in how it sets up for street riding. The 11 year old and 8 year old got a Pitch and a hot rock for Christmas. They absolutely love em.

Thanks a ton, they were out of my size (56) on that one, but they have it in the pro version that's $100 more!

never heard of Specialized bikes, looks like a lot of posters have one.

I went through the same process about 2 years ago. Wanted something mainly for neighborhood streets but able to go over grass and gravel if I cut through a park. Tried multiple hybrid bikes and ended up with the Giant Roam. Love it so far. Get fitted before buying. I want to say I paid about $500 new. Mine looks pretty much like this but mine is 2018-ish model and this is latest.

I have a Schwinn Hybrid. It's not the most expensive bike in the world but it does all I ask it to do.

Mongoose Malus...fat tire bike
Love the ride..great bike for the coronapocolypse.
Has 7 speeds which is enough for cruising around and occasionally going offroad. Provides a great workout on higher gears.
Gear changer is on the handle, so some accidental slips every now and then.
Heavy at 45lbs but a definite head turner.
Overall great recreational bike with some good offroad capabilities and features.
