Health Savings Accounts (HSA) for ALL - BamaAlum02 on 8/3/20 at 3:38 pm
[link=(https://www.paul.senate.gov/news/icymi-dr-rand-paul-introduces-health-savings-accounts-all-act)]HSAs for All[/link] Rand Paul introduced legislation that would expand eligibility for HSA's and remove contribution limits. Wasn't trying to get political but I thought this might be of inte...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (11)
re: Judging performance of a financial advisor - BamaAlum02 on 7/14/20 at 3:57 pm
Started with them almost 4 yrs ago with $125,000. Fast forward to today and I'm up 26.6% (6.65% avg yearly) while paying them 1.2% yearly. The approach was always slow and steady, and consists of about 25 S&P 500 stocks that they manipulate monthly based on performance.
What is you...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

HEXO - Marijuana stock that has absolutely tanked. Down about 80%. No reason to sell at this point. SIRI - Down about 10%. I guess with less driving people are cutting subscriptions. I'll ride it out and hopefully at least get back to even. Everything else is green....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Accounting Majors -- Any experiences here? - BamaAlum02 on 6/16/20 at 3:11 pm
I've seen the exact opposite. I know of several non big 4 firms that have gone to requiring a CPA to be offered shares, otherwise you're placed in a Principal or Managing Director role. At the very least, it's an edge even if you find a firm that doesn't require CPA sign-off for most of th...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Accounting Majors -- Any experiences here? - BamaAlum02 on 6/16/20 at 1:26 pm
Why do people still find accounting attractive? The pay sucks when you calculate it hourly. And the CPA is a PITA to get because you need 150 credit hours. OP, get a computer science degree. Less school, better pay, better hours. Accounting is for people who think they're smart but not ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
Consider other areas in the industry as you work toward your degree. Not everyone has to become a big 4 financial auditor or tax accountant with that degree. Take some IT/security courses, take an internal audit course if available. There are plenty of organizations out there that focus on sp...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Accounting Majors -- Any experiences here? - BamaAlum02 on 6/16/20 at 12:38 pm
I think this is probably highly dependent on location. There is a lot of money to be made in industry in certain cities/sectors. I think in tech in a city like SF/Seattle industry is making more than big 4 through like partner level, which obviously has a higher ceiling than almost anything i...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)

I'll give you a little background on me and then answer your questions. I got my undergrad in MIS and started as a computed programmer. Hated it and knew I had to change after 6 months. I had a late bday and was on the 5 year plan at UA so I didn't really start working until I was almost 24. Wor...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
re: For those who got PPP money, how close are you to running out? - BamaAlum02 on 6/15/20 at 11:49 am
I wouldn’t accept a 5% margin of error from my cpa....
You don't seem to understand that it is not an error. The calculation factors differ from the payback factors.
How are you this far off? I’m continually blown away by how many companies are not able to calculate this properly?
It has nothing to do with calculating properly or improperly. We are a CPA firm, we calculated over a hundred of these. I think we are good on how to come up with the...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
I believe it is only for an 8 week window, but that window can be used with 24 weeks. If you don't hit 60%, it all goes back.
It is written as using the full 24 weeks, not 8 weeks in the 24. Of course that could be changed as many other aspects of the PPP have. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

ETF question - BamaAlum02 on 6/4/20 at 5:39 pm
I read an article that $TSLA was positioning itself to be included in the S&P 500. I believe they just needed to show a profit for Q2 2020 to qualify. My question is, once a company like Tesla enters this group how do the ETF's that track the S&P handle their stock? Do they immediately begin buyi...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

I haven't had a chance to listen but Torres said he addresses Petty coming back at the end of the interview. What did he say? [link=(https://twitter.com/EliHershkovich/status/1266084263348310024)]Twitter Exchange[/link]
Twitter commenter: Any sense of whether Petty comes back?
...
