What to do in New York (Christmas)
Not actually going to be there for Christmas. But I'm planning a trip the week before. I've been once during the summer, so I know the basics. But I'm just wondering if there are any must sees during Christmas time.

Any recommendations on Broadway shows? Wanting to see Book of Mormon and maybe Spiderman. I've already seen Jersey Boys and Spamalot. Both were great.

Also, any good places to eat? I went to Carmine's last time and it was incredible.

So far, (off the top of my head) we plan on going to at least one Broadway show, David Letterman, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Central Park, and the new World Trade Center memorial. I believe the Statue of Liberty will be closed. Doubt we have an NBA season, but I'd like to see the Knicks in MSG.

Thanks for your suggestions or tips.

If you liked Carmine's you will love either Angelo's or Il Vagabondo.

I tend to agree with you. They're one of those, "once is enough" kinda places. But I would think it would be different at Christmas time.

Assume that "trapiness" to be multiplied times 10 for all tourist traps in NYC during the holidays....

Top of the Rock is the same view as Empire, with half the crowd.

Did Empire State Building 3 days before Christmas at 11pm. Not many people at that time but very cold.

The view from the top of the ESB at night is pretty breathtaking I've only been during the summer, but I can imagine the holidays being an awesome time to visit.

I wad there the week before Christmas 2009. It was fantastic. Definitely go see the Christmas Spectacular. It's cheesy to say but do it once.
