Regular exercise and a nonfiction book at bedtime.

Lunesta is amazing. I only use it when i travel but it works great.

Melatonin will mess you up long-term. Not just chronic diarrhea, but disrupts biorhythms and stuff.
THC gummies leave me too groggy.
I take a good ole Unisom when needed.

A very modest amount of THC + very modest dose of Trazedone + meditation/reading fiction
That and having normal, productive, active days (e.g. wake up and go to bed at reasonable hours, get outside, move the body, get things done, don't eat complete junk, etc)

Tell her to try CBD, or preferably CBN.
Nature has given us an amazing resource, don't be afraid to use it.

My wife has a script for Ambien that she uses just about 3-4 times a month and I will take one maybe once every 4-5 weeks and it does help me sleep.
They put her in a coma and it happens quick once she takes one of those tiny pills.
One time I thought I needed 2 and took them. I woke up about 3 hours later to pee and was in such a fog I never did that again. I don't like not being in control of my senses like that.

I took an ambien once and woke up driving in my car 10 miles from my house with no recollection of how I got there.

I have a really hard time shutting my brain down when i'm trying to go to sleep. What I have found that works the best is Lunesta and magnesium glycinate about an hour before I try to go to sleep. Bedroom cold, dark with the ceiling fan on high and another desktop fan right next to my head. I can usually get a good nights sleep with that routine. Add sex, and I sleep like the dead.

wife takes klonopin when she is really stressed and needs sleep. does not like the aftereffects though (not sure what they are) also Mg glycinate daily.
i'm going to a sleep clinic tomorrow for initial consult. regardless of how much I get, never feel rested.
no issues getting to sleep, though.

No tv or phone in bed.
I pick up a book instead.
I read 20-30 mins and then can barely keep my eyes open.

I started taking 200mg of magnesium (glycinate) 2-3 times a week and they stopped immediately. They make me sleep really hard though so I might drop to once a week.
Oddly, I went about 10 years with no dreams (or no recollection of them) but started taking the same dose as you and now I dream every night.

Driving an average of 500 miles every day in this country, some places will wear you out.
