Needs to exercise. If she can’t stop thinking needs to put down the phone and stop watching tv. Developing a decent schedule helps when you get out of your 30s

Magnesium

I’ve never really had any trouble falling asleep, but I’ve been having dreams that wake me up in the middle of the night lately.

I started taking 200mg of magnesium (glycinate) 2-3 times a week and they stopped immediately. They make me sleep really hard though so I might drop to once a week.

Zzzquil works pretty well for me. Just make sure you have a full eight hours to sleep. I take it 2 hours before bed on Sunday night.

I used to take melatonin every night for several years upon advice from my doctor. However last year after a new study came out possibly linking melatonin with heart disease he told me to quit taking it. Advised to take magnesium glycinate instead. Seems to work.

Ambien is basically perfect for me. Great sleep 8+ hours, a few bizarre dreams now and then, get up maybe once to pee, back to sleep immediately with no issues.

My cocktail for good sleep is below. It is probably enough to knock an elephant out, but it works for me.

1 x Midnight gummy - 1 hour before bedtime
10 mg of melatonin - at bedtime
50 mg Trazadone - at bedtime
1 x Night Night (fast acting) gummies - at bedtime

I'm a notoriously bad sleeper. Brain hates every medicine I've ever taken. Melatonin, I wake up violently like my brain is mad that I tricked it. THC/CBD, same. Ambien/Lunesta, same. Booze does ok, but that's a bad habit no one wants. I'm tired, but if I do anything to get my thoughts racing, it's just not going to happen. If I get 6 a night, extremely lucky. I also wake up at 3 am every day. No matter what's going on. No matter what time I went to sleep. I've used that to my advantage to go to the gym early in the day, before work, and it's helped my get in much better shape...but sleep remains unchanged. I see people mentioning books. That's going to be my next thing I'm going to try. I just live by the mantra, I'll sleep when I'm dead.

Primary doctor gave me Trazadone which doesn't work for sh!t Just had a knee replaced and surgeon gave me Ambien 5 mg, doesn't work for sh!t

A buddy gave me a couple Restoril that seem to have some effect. But primary won't prescribe them.

Still looking for something good.

Didn’t need it after 2 weeks, kinda reset my sleeping habits, maybe

Were you suffering from insomnia prior to taking? I have been for months now...my brain is wired at night and I'm lucking if I get 3 hours of sleep. I just need my damn sleep cycle to be reset

Trazedone was awful for me, horrible restless legs. As someone else said, retiring was the biggest help. For those not there yet, magnesium, no phone. I could watch tv and fall asleep or read a book. When I quit drinking my sleep got “worse” I put in quotes because I may have slept better but much less. Then I got off shift and went to days and sleep was very off and on, typically 3-4 hours a night but never straight through. Right after retiring I started sleeping 6-8 hours a night.

Not so much insomnia, just wasn’t getting quality sleep, went to doctor because I just wasn’t feeling right and found out my blood pressure was high, doc put me on lunesta and it got me BP back to normal and feeling normal

Melatonin works, but it gives me dreams from hell. One night I dreamed that Joe Biden was President and Kamala was veep. So, doc prescribed zapelon, it works pretty well. no tie to dementia like Benadryl. I'll skip it for a week a month, don't want to be dependent.
