Modern marijuana THC content is upwards of 3 times on average compared to what it was just 20 years ago.
It isn’t the same plant anymore.

And that's the real problem: nothing we consume is "completely harmless" yet the pro-weed crowd has tried to manufacture this mythos for decades now that you can smoke all you want at whatever potency you want and all you'll get is the munchies.
Every peer-reviewed study, Every. Single. One., acknowledges that there is a distinct causal link between long-term usage of high-THC products and manic behavior.
Everything in moderation.

I don't think anyone is not "crapping" on alcohol. The effects of chronic alcohol abuse are well known and documented.
The effects of chronic high potency THC use are not well known or documented because: (1) it wasn't widely legal in the US less than a decade ago; (2) as Scruffy pointed out, THC products are much more potent than they were a decade ago; and (3) because of the legality of weed, people are more willing to admit that it is the cause of their symptoms when they go to the emergency room.
So, it turns out that THC is like any other drug: too much of it is a bad thing.

This is correct. There was ~ 3% THC in marijuana 40yrs ago, it’s up to 85%+ in some strands.

Everyone already knows about alcohol and vomiting. The claims are that excessive weed can make you scream and vomit. I don't care for weed. I smoked plenty of it back in my youth but for people to say it is harmless is ignorant. It IS a gateway drug if you aren't careful. To me, it stinks and it definitely does not improve heart function.

"Scromiting" is very obviously a fake disease that the alcohol lobby created. I suppose if someone decided they were going to ingest cannabis in some way to get as high as humanly possible, sure - some things might happen. But for 99.999% of users who live in the normal world, everything is fine.

to me it's deeper than that. Right now, there is a ban set to go into effect on 5 mg THC edibles and drinks. 5 mg THC edible is gonna give you the same intoxication as maybe 1-2 cocktails and the US gov is set to BAN that outright. Not regulate, not make sure it's not marketed to kids...BAN. so why?
Why are 2 substances with the same intoxicating properties treated so different? You can abuse booze just as easy as THC, but booze is everywhere... you can take your kid to chilis and pound as many margs as you want, but THC is the scourge of humanity?
Everything in moderation should be the call. I am PRO regulating the THC market, but banning it is asinine, and studies like this are helping fuel that fire.

Maybe if we hadn’t spent a century locking up anyone with a joint, the alchoholics weren’t desperately trying to return to those days, and lobbyists didn’t influence those decisions we wouldn’t see these comparisons?
