2-4-D is fine for Bermuda but kills St. Aug (and centipede).

I’ve used it as directed many times on St Aug and not killed the grass.
Any chance you could talk to one of his fishing buddies as I’m sure they have discussed what boat he likes, also as someone else said the motor is very important to get right. Lots of loyalties when discussing brands. I’ve owned 2 Mercs and 1 Yamaha and doing it over I would want a Yamaha.
I guess there’s pitfall with every job but there’s a couple at my place of employment. The saying isn’t “if” you’ll make the mistake but “when”. What’s done is done, like others said own it, tell the truth and they will look at you much more favorably than if you try and cover it up. Good luck

My neighbor and I rented a machine from Home Depot one year. It is much harder work than you’d expect, especially when you’ve never done it before. I won’t do it again.

I rented one from HD and it’s definitely a workout. Using the machine wasn’t bad but I don’t have a trailer so loading it in the truck you need help. Made a world of difference in the lawn. I also spread some peat moss in the bare anreas and it’s filling in nicely.
Vidor Texas, everyone I encountered had a limp, gimp or some sort of physical impairment. Weird, strange and sad.

Quick google search on spinal cysts. Sounds like they can swell then shrink. Swollen state produces nerve pain.

Spinal cysts that swell and shrink are typically synovial cysts (common in the lumbar spine/lower back) or Tarlov cysts (often at the sacrum), both fluid-filled sacs that fluctuate in size, causing intermittent pain, numbness, or sciatica.

It’s worth a check up at the vet. May have some sort of pulmonary edema or lung infection.

Very cool story.
Sometimes I’ll buy the smoked ham hocks and smoke them again for some extra flavor. Leftover ham bone is always good too.
