I agree with this.

Last boss was too chill & lax but new boss over-compensated and was a paranoid dictator. 24 out of 75 quit after a year. Most of them top-notch.
The dictator hired a bunch of meek, barely-competent replacements and encouraged them to spy for him.
Nightmare job.

Last company I was with was easily the worst managed company I’ve ever seen. We had multiple people just leave. Like, walked down the hall, turned their laptop and badge into IT, and walk out the front door. No notice, no see you later, just leave. It was common enough we named it after the first guy that did it, Marcus. fricking legend.

Not necessarily.
You shouldn't make changes until you've had enough time to observe how things are done and who your employees are and how they work.
And then you only make changes that would actually make the job better and easier for your employees. You don't make changes just to make changes so you can impress your boss.
Remember: your first responsibility isn't to your boss, it's to your employees. Good managers don't consider themselves to be in charge of the employees, they consider themselves to be responsible for the employees.

Mandated the COVID shot. Lost most of our field crews and some operators.

Baton Rouge. But the company owns places in Baton Rouge and NOLA.

If they see my previous post they will know who I'm talking about and who I am. That's probably enough to get some shite coming my way.

My first job after college was a manager for medical billing. It was family owned, very casual and everyone got along well for the most part. The owner would give me his credit card and tell me to take out my team for lunch. They had guys that would grill for us once a month. If a patient couldn't pay a bill, screw it, write it off.
They got bought out after over 30 years in business. The VP was let go after a week. We had to bill and collect everything. It no longer became a fun place to work. Employees of 20+ years were quitting back to back. I was there for a year and a half and bounced.

We were a small corporate company with a tight knit culture that got bought by a global behemoth with a “just a number” culture.
