They sidestep a manager that had a 10+ year career in the company, being consistent in nice and well performing to give the son in law of the CEO the job. 4 people quit after the news

The fryer went out at the same time the ice cream machine broke, and the stress was too much. We all quit and started working across the skreet for $.32 an hour more.

I heard it was them giving the CEO's son in law the job. Also heard 4 people quit.

I've never had multiple people quit at one time. I've seen people quit over a few months over an issue.

Most recently went through a merger, a lot of people were not happy after the merger, and over a year period left one by one. I was one of them.

Most people need to find new work before they quit.

Was at a company that was bought by another company and they decimated the bonus structure and provided much worse health benefits.

Lost 10/20 people on our team over 6 months. I was in a supervisory position and it didn't impact me as much, but the people leaving did and I eventually left as well.

The company was then sold again and swallowed up and I'm not sure if anything is left.

The management team was told we could expect raises and a bonus because we were the only entity in the company (there were 7 separate stores) that made a profit every period, and continually exceeded expectations.

Instead of giving us a raise or a bonus, the owner decided to spend the money on hiring a "social media manager" (she was getting paid twice as much as we were) and on a nitrogen infuser for the bar to be used to make one cocktail. And it didn't work because he bought it second hand and then couldn't return it.

We all left within the next couple weeks. Whole restaurant has fallen into chaos. They are looking for an executive chef for the fourth time since I left last August.

Couple of instances.

One company I was at a few years ago had a couple of talented managers leave, and a new hire reneg for an offer he got somewhere else at the last minute. Instead of looking within and figuring out ways to alleviate some glaringly obvious culture issues, HR summoned everyone individually into a conference room and interrogated. Asked questions like "are you looking to leave, do you enjoy working here, rate your management from 1-10" etc. Basically a way to coerce some folks to admit they didn't like it, and find a way to get rid of them. 3 people quit immediately after the meetings.

In my previous role at a large paper company in ATL, the company got acquired by a European conglomerate. Said conglomerate completely scrapped the supply chain systems project our team had invested thousands of hours and $$ into. New leadership said it wasn't consistent with their vision of owner-operator as opposed to a centralized supply chain. I think about 10 folks in my group turned in their 2 weeks the day after the announcement was made. I ended up getting laid off from there this past July.

Had about 20 people walk out once when we showed up to do a piss test on an entire business unit because we found out the GM was basically a drug dealer.

Narcissistic psychopath hired as CEO. Ran off anyone that she thought was a "threat" to her authority (as in anyone who gave her an answer she didn't like). Then work output slowed to a crawl as some of the key cogs in the day to day operations left.

She also punished groups for personal reasons. She would eliminate or move support personnel around to make those groups look bad when they could keep up with their workload due to understaffing.

I've heard that she was also embezzling; and that was one of the main reasons why she resigned (before anything could come out).

Worked for a small firm that got acquired by a larger firm mid year. We then proceeded to go through a hellacious project schedule with loads of overtime on salary especially through the holidays. Most of us junior salaried people left after that since we weren’t considered in the bonus pool and there were no spot bonuses.

This sounds eerily similar to an oil/gas/chemical consulting firm I worked for in BR.

Extremely intense President with a somehow more intense SVP Pakistani that was his boss from Parent group.

Combined with Supply Chain struggling to keep up with Assets and Inventory.

As a chef, it’d be cool to know which places to avoid. Which city are you in?

Is the CEO also the owner of the company?

Also, why would a "manager" get bumped to CEO - were they wanting to sidestep the rungs above? You also failed to mention the qualifications of said SIL - maybe he has a better resume than the others.
