Indian nepotism caused a few rounds of quitting at my old employer.

Employee Health nurses who worked at my previous employer all got up and quite at the same time. New director came in and tried to "shake things up" they didn't like it, had a meeting with each other, all quit the same day...

why would a "manager" get bumped to CEO -

The job clearly wasn't the CEO job but whatever position it was went to the CEO's son in law instead of the deserving manager.

The welders were told they'd have to run all their leads themselves and they all drug up.

Did they say "we don't agree with what you're doing" and the director ignored them or did they just leave everyone out to dry without trying to change things first?

If the latter, that's a POS thing to do.

Not as much fired, but I worked on the corporate side of a largeish recruiting agency. The company has an annual large conference that almost all the recruiters, sales folks, and management corporate folks attended. This company maily hires from SEC school kids coming out after 4 years looking for a job. It is basically a three day party for 20somethings. I think the year I left 26 were fired for various reasons including: hooking up in public, drugs in the open, naked on elevators/lobby, arrested, etc.

HR covered up multiple sexual assaults and physical assaults in the workplace with the complicity of a senior executive. Same executive promoted an unqualified secretary to a senior leadership position, and it turned out they were having an affair. No consequences for anyone.

Then all is fair

I've come in as a supervisor a few times to an established team and tried to change things. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But I always hear the feedback and adjust accordingly.

Keeping good employees happy in their role is critical.

Ah, read it wrong. Thanks.

Maybe the SIL still deserved it.

When smoking was banned inside and smokers were limited to x amount of smoke breaks a shift. I remember one 50ish year old woman having a nervous breakdown over it. A couple of people quit the first week and then about a dozen stragglers over the next few weeks/months.

Of course over the next few months years - dang near every work place was smoke free.

Had a fat a-hole promoted to manager and folks just dipped. Large accounting in BR. P&N. Fun times.

As a chef, it’d be cool to know which places to avoid. Which city are you in?

Baton Rouge. But the company owns places in Baton Rouge and NOLA.

I'm not going to throw the name out there on this forum because I don't feel like having to deal with the owners shite if they happen to see this thread.

If they see my previous post they will know who I'm talking about and who I am. That's probably enough to get some shite coming my way.

Shouldn't make any changes until you've been in that role for at least 6 months -- or been steeped in the department for a long time and know where all the bodies are buried.

Halliburton agreed to acquire Baker Hughes for $30+ Billion. Bunch of engineers for us were all let go, decision made by Halliburton. The Department of Labor blocked the merger, and was tough to get many of those engineers back once they quickly found work elsewhere.
