How long ago did the spot on the shoulder get noticed and what did they do at that time?
Sorry for my earlier response. The dermatologist took a sample of the suspected area and sent it to a pathology lab. When it was reported positive, I made an appointment with the melanoma clinic.

How did you word the query in order for it to result in what you claim.
I routinely find the primary cause is excess UV radiation. More specifically it is UVB that does the most damage. UVA comes in second.
Early sunscreens primarily protected against UVB because that is what causes burns. Unfortunately that caused people to “protect” their skin from UVB while staying in the sun absorbing UVA for longer periods of time. That is how sun screen contributed to skin cancer.
But diet being the primary cause? List the evidence and share your query language please.

I’m pretty freckled, but my first trip to the Dr for an annual check up was around age 40.
The Dr asked where I got all the skin damage from the sun. Hell, I didn’t even know my skin was damaged.

Yes to all those things. They will remove and test any that look suspicious and keep an eye on any others.

Yes, you can. And yes they will check you all over. I’ve had one squamous cell on my face removed years ago and 2 on my scalp removed last year. I now have to go for a check every 6 months. Will be seen again first week of August and 99% certain have another on my scalp, possibly 2.

Yeah I go every year as well for a mole check. I think everyone age 40 and over should add it to their yearly checkups. Inexpensive and doesn’t take no time.

My friend’s wife is very fit and exercises regularly and got melanoma on the bottom of her foot. Explain that, you holier than thou dipshit. Pretty sure she wasn’t putting sunscreen on the bottom of her feet to exacerbate it.

Explain fit and exercises? There’s a big difference in being skinny and stretching occasionally vs pushing weight around and running marathons.

I'm in my 70's, 1st cut on me for skin cancer was 35 years old. Try and go to the derm 4 times a year now. Went to the derm in May, had been over a year because I just had my hip replaced. All biopsies were cancer.
On the face or next they perform Mohs procedure. Cut some,and wait for biopsy. If it's clean sew you up. If there are traces cut again til it's clear.
Spent a lot of summers at the beach, little or no sunscreen. This what I looked like before Mohs surgery.

The absolute worst skin I've ever seen was on a group of tourists from a Nordic country that were in Dubai. They clearly loved sun, and seem to have never heard of sunscreen. There were 30+ of them that looked like chewed up saddles.

I don't do sunscreen but I wear long sleeve sun shirts & wide brimmed hats when I'm in the sun for an extended time. I've been cut on more than I care to.
