It’s a damn good buy at 60
Just paid $63. Well worth the 45 minutes of my time.

Are you actually going to drink them? Because bourbon just sitting in bottles is a terrible waste of money.
Absolutely, drinking the juice!

Those are all made there, right? I thought I saw even Pappy's is. I'm sure you have more aging and some different ingredients in the premium labels, but it does seem insane to be paying $100 plus for bourbons that are made in the same place as decent lower tier options that are nearly as good.
Our tour guide at Bardstown Bourbon Co. (which is kind of up and coming, but large already) said many of the distilleries have NDAs back and forth on supplying product and Bardstown is producing a lot of bourbon for more famous operations that can't keep up with demand.

Old Forester 1920 > Blanton's

Yeah they made it a Kentucky exclusive unfortunately. I enjoyed it as well, especially for the price.

Does the line calm down as the day goes on? Like do they sell out for the day? My husband drank eagle rare, buffalo trace, and blantons before it was cool. He just wants to see the Distillery and is not standing in line for that.
You can get the tour tickets online without waiting in line…Now, if you want the bottles, the stock goes quick. The gift shop opens at 9 and the bottles sell out by 11. I got in line at 8:30 and got out of there 9:20. It was not bad at all, in fact, it was enjoyable talking to people in the line. It’s a fun experience and would do it again.

Would love to get a bottle, but a tad pricey for my taste.

Well that's a real killer. I'll really miss it. It was my go to.
Now I've moved on to Basil Hayden Rye.

Who/where are people camping out for Buffalo Trace? It became my go to when I got into bourbon a couple years ago. It went through a brief scarce period, but now I have no trouble finding it.

We are doing a tour there in April. Looking forward to is as we did one last year and weren't able to get into BT.

Camping out for those....no. but local pages are starting to post BT sightings. People are paying double retail at a min for weller SR, and people are for sure camping out for blantons. None of them merit any of the above lol

Look for Elmer T Lee.
My favorite bourbon. Almost impossible to get here in Alabama due to the dumb arse ABC nazis.

They definitely won’t have that at BT. They only put out low end, allocated stuff. WSR, ER, Blantons, EHT Small batch.
And he’s definitely not gonna find ETL just chilling on a shelf somewhere without a price tag of $250+

Blantons isn’t worth the hype Baw. Now, if you could get a bottle for under $75, it would be worth it. Just trying to save yourself some major disappointment.

Just go to kroger next time

quote:Dirty secret - almost none of you (and especially the blowhards on the whiskey thread on the food and drink board) could even come close to passing any blind taste test of bourbon (or any other hard spirit). This obviously goes for wine too.
Blantons is good but that shits crazy. I’ve grown to discover I can enjoy a $30 bottle of Elijah Craig just as much as highly sought after and over priced bourbon.
That's why this is what people should do:
Try - BLIND - 15-20 bourbons and pick the one you like the best. Then start buying that one in the highest proof you can.
