Honestly, the Kooper Family Distillery in TX has its show room on the way to Austin and their stuff is so damned pleasant.

It’s a pain to drive 3hrs round trip, but the booze is reasonably priced and available.

CharlesLSU if you like that stuff so much you should name one of your kids after it.

With the BT expansion and the change of distribution, this stuff should become easier to get. Hopefully we won't have to wait four years for that to happen.

I’d imagine we are still 5-6 years from seeing any ease. BT has been expanding their production the last few years but it’s still gonna take time to get 6-10 yr aged product to market in order to fill demand.

ETA*
We could also see ease in the market if demand drops from people moving on to spending their money on other stuff.

And he’s definitely not gonna find ETL just chilling on a shelf somewhere without a price tag of $250+

So true and far crazier than someone shelling out a bill for a bottle of Blanton's. Both are single barrels, use the same mashbill, are close in proof and age, and although ETL isn’t restricted solely to Warehouse H (like Blantons), that $250+ bottle likely was aged there.

Would be genuinely curious to know if the average whiskey enthusiast could pick out the highly sought after and expensive bourbon in a blind taste test with four other good 30-50 dollar bourbons. I’m guessing most couldn’t.

The scarcity over the last 10 years was largely created by the distributor if you believe Sazerac’s current lawsuit against former distributor, Republic

I can confidently say this is not the case, at least in NC. Sazerac doing everything they can to get money back since they’re facing this big lawsuit with Fireball that they’re about to lose.

I'm sure you have more aging and some different ingredients in the premium labels, but it does seem insane to be paying $100 plus for bourbons that are made in the same place as decent lower tier options that are nearly as good.

The mash bill and age along with location in the warehouse all matter.

I agree most people might not be able to name different labels in a blind test, but if you’ve been drinking bourbon for even a little while, you absolutely can tell the difference between a wheated bourbon, a rye, a barrel proof, etc…

Sure, there’s a value argument to be had, but the whole “ain’t no difference in that shite and my jack daniels” shtick is BS.

Glad I texted a buddy when I was at Willett. He said "grab every purple top you can." At the end of my tour, I saw a handful of guys buzzing in the corner of the gift shop. Sure enough, they were grabbing purple tops.

Should I get one or grab them all?

It's a shame they let it sit so close to pot still. Hope that glass is thick.

That’s correct but there’s a lot less of it produced.
