Cool story bro. You clearly have never heard of IEP, 504, ILT, SLT, PLC, OCR, MDR.
Those didn’t exist in that time.

Nope, sure haven't. I'm not BabyTac rich, but I hold my own.

I’ve got 2 in school and my kids will try their best on any tests given because that’s how my wife and I have raised them.

My wife is a teacher, the majority of kids do try, but there is a significant population of students that simply do not give 2 fricks about school or education and MIGHT even purposely bomb a test if they know it screws up a teachers salary or employment.

They are basically a full time parent to like 20 kids

I don't think you understand what "full time" means

Every parent should have to spend an entire school day shadowing a teacher once a year.

You don’t think we all have kids?

Every teacher should have to serve warrants, fix a radiator, sit on hold with the IRS, verify insurance, pump up those sales numbers, defend their design project in court, pump a septic tank, tell someone they are dying of a rare blood disease, work 60 hours a week for a year straight….being a grown up sucks there are very few easy jobs and just as few have easy paths to get a raise.

Guess what, the BOE went and hired bloated salaried staff at the BOE and didn't utilize the money for the schools or the teachers.

This right here is the issue.

tell them to get that money from the lottery and casinos like they were supposed to when i was in middle school in the late 80`s.

There are 3 very nice casinos in BR now and people are gambling now more than ever.

The national average pay for a Superintendent is roughly $156,000.
New Orleans = $336,000
Lafayette = $300,000
Monroe = $206,000 (w/ guaranteed increase)

$150,000 is acceptable for a National average

Lafayette giving the superintendent a fat raise while charter schools are popping up everywhere and they're having to close a high school in the fastest growing part of the city is laughable. That whole school board needs to be replaced.

They told us the LA Lottery would cover this and then spent that money on dumb stuff. Electric dog polisher. Gasoline powered turtleneck sweater. Fur sink.

Where do we rank in quality of eductaion?

There is probably a correlation there.

It sparked so much fury that many teachers didn't come to work that week out of protest.

Responded like a bunch of spoiled children that are going to hold their breath until they get their way. I won’t support that financially or any other way.

Closing the high school is necessary due to lower student body at the school and an abundance of schools on the east side of the Lafayette area.

Some of the non certified teachers my woman works with are straight up stupid (elementary school.) There is beginning of the year and end of the year baseline testing to measure progress, and these teachers cheat (pencil whip) the results. It involves the teacher watching from a different screen what the student is doing and then hitting a verification button when the student gets the answer or gets close enough.

THEY CHEAT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. They're too stupid to realize they should let the kids stunningly fail at the beginning, and then cheat their asses off at the end to show stunning improvement. But they are heroes, and deserve raises.

Novel idea they could try teaching, like actually conveying knowledge to the kids. You know kinda what a teacher is supposed to do.

My exe was a teacher and I'm dating one now so don't jump on me. Most teachers these days are glorified babysitters. Tell the kids what to do on their Chromebook then babysit. It amazes me that highschool kids write and communicate on a level lower than most of us did in the 3rd grade. There is no way a junior in highschool should be writing 3 word sentences that barey have a passing semblance of the English language. It hurts my head trying to decipher what some of these kids write and how stupid they are.
My exe had a kid miss 79 days of school and not only passed but also didn't have to take finals. Huh? 79 days missed out of like 130ish days! The school admin was perfectly fine it. The teachers that do try or do care get no support from the front office and either burn out or just give up on trying.
