I was pretty surprised when I visited SLC for the first time in June at how left of center the city seemed. Fact is is that its a very big city, so it makes sense I guess, but many parts I went through seemed about as liberal as Denver. I just wasn't really expecting it. It seems a lot of people from Cali, Oregon, Seattle, etc have migrated there.
When you have Mormon/conservative upbringing diverging with big city far left influence, it probably confuses the hell out of a lot of these kids. Not saying that that had anything to do with this situation, but just a thought.
