I've been told that this simply isn't possible in the dystopian hellscape that is Biden's America.

People cant afford drugs in this economy.
Now go post some streaming ratings and pretend that is going great too.

I wonder how much of a impact did Oregon had making hard drugs illegal again.

I doubt much if any. Hell in a twisted way it might contribute to deaths as people are scared to seek help when dealing with an overdose now

I'm saying people are dying from fent laced cocaine, pills, party drugs, etc.

I'm not downplaying the danger, and I'm absolutely not calling fentanyl a fun drug

My point is the popularity of drugs seems to be declining because of the obvious carnage they've reaped the last decade or so.

I think the ready availability of Narcan is THE pivotal factor. The article says 85 percent of the addicts they talked to carry Narcan.

Sorta but fent absolutely can kill you and it's not what I'd call a fun party drug

I’m guessing they were speaking about people that used coke stopped when so much tainted with fentanyl was around.

Now we see who didn't read the article. The graph midway down tells the tale. In 2018, ~70k deaths. Steady uptrend through the FJB years to peak of 112k in 2023, small drop-off to 101k this year. Yes, comrade, we have increased the chocolate ration from 6 grams per day to 5 grams per day.

More than a little disingenuous to start at 2018. I’m the first to lay the majority of the blame for the Covid shutdowns on our friends on the left, but to pretend as though our friends on the right had no responsibility for that run up through 2020 strains credulity a bit. To pretend as though Trump wasn’t president through the entirety of that uptick above 100k is flat out dishonest.

1392 in 2023, so basically none.

Would hope for this to be true

Unfortunately we recently lost a 32 year old mother of 3 to a heroin/fentanyl OD

Cartels getting their supply chains under control when it comes to fentanyl?

While anyone here is likely just guessing I imagine it is both the supply and demand sides are figuring out how to properly utilize the drug. It has gone from a rouge drug that neither side was properly using to one that is better understood by both sides and has simply become just another narcotic in the street pharmacy.

It's a 3% drop. Maybe you should wait a minute on your victory lap.

I think that’s part of it. I also think that a large percentage of people who were susceptible to dying of an overdose… died of an overdose over the last few years. It’s natural that we get a bit of a return to the mean after an oddity like the Covid OD surge.

love how people tout yoy or mom statistics without any relative information. Just another signal of the decline of intelligence in this lemming country. Look at the chart in the link. Overdoses are still massively above where they were pre-covid.

You sound upset they’re going down this year.

The population of people dumb enough to OD on drugs is finite.

The war on opioids has left legitimate pain patients without and left with only 2 choices. Take to the streets, if healthy enough and take that risk, or end it themselves through suicide.

Good for the "overdose numbers" though.
