The cocaine in NOLA has been pure all year long. I haven't seen anything laced or cut with something crazy in a while.

Fent has been popping up a lot but in small amounts, not sure if it is intentional fent or added to something else.

The meth on the other hand has had something put in it, you read the patient statements and they are getting something they are not expecting.

We have heard of the corollary, that after so many overdoses for a real, serious addict, that Narcan ceases to work well, if at all.

Never heard that. You might need more than one but it'll work.

You are pushing a dip and ignoring the past several years of extremely high overdose deaths.

It has a while to go to get back down to 2019 and 2018 levels.

But great job turning something positive done mostly at state levels into a lame dem political point.

First of all, I referred to the graph in the linked article. Nothing disingenuous about using the data supplied. Go get your own data if you want to complain. Second, did I miss something and DJT was POTUS through 2022? Last year of DJT deaths went from just shy of 69k to just over 78k. That pales in comparison to the increase from '21-'23 with open borders and the unfettered cartel traffic that came with them. In fact, let's play with numbers some more to generate a new headline: "OD Death Rate Increased by Over Three Times the Prior Rate Increase." Worst rate increase under DJT was 11k. Increase during the FJB open borders years was 34k, so 3x.

I didn’t say using the graph was disingenuous; I said pretending the Trump presidency ended in 2018 was disingenuous.

Speaking of graphs, you should have looked a bit more closely at the graph before deciding to be quite so certain. Biden took office at the end of January 2021. If you look closely at the graph, you’ll see it explained that each year’s graph line is April of that year. So that jump from about 77k to about 102k between 2020 and 2021? 9 or so months of that belongs to Trump. In short, overdose deaths have now roughly returned to where they were when Biden first took office.

You’re right

Joe fricking Biden can’t tie his shoes or wipe his own arse but he single handedly reduced the flow of illegal drugs into America while simultaneously allowing unfettered illegal immigration.

1. I figured you hop heads would credit legalization of marijuana;

2. Those numbers will be adjusted higher after the fake election.

lol, in that article the guy in the picture is just finding a way to survive taking fricking fentanyl and the zombie drug xylazine.

That’s not living, that’s still a fricking zombie living in the streets. Congrats, the first responders in your area are going to use resources to save that guy from an overdose.

Btw this is a huge fricking problem in the US, that still means 90k people will die.

"In the states that have the most rapid data collection systems, we’re seeing declines of twenty percent, thirty percent," said Dr. Nabarun Dasgupta, an expert on street drugs at the University of North Carolina.

That number is too insane to be true, especially when there has been basically zero change in the flow of drugs.

This is probably being reported like crime data, they simply don't report many overdoses.

Narcan is everywhere. Not mad about it…happy actually, but people are overdosing more than ever, it’s just they now have a lifeline readily available everywhere.

I also believe people are less likely to experiment as much with recreational drugs because of the potential for Fentynal contamination

He noted that one survey in the Seattle area found 85 percent of high-risk drug users now carry the overdose-reversal medication.

Washington was one of the states where deaths increased even as this many high risk users in Seattle carry naloxone with them.

Many are probably using more (and maybe ODing as well) with the knowledge multiple users with them have naloxone with them.

Drug addiction runs in waves. The old hypes die off and young people see the damage it does and don't want any of it. Then a new generation comes up without that knowledge and the cycle starts again. It's about time for crack to have a resurgence.

I was in rehab with a couple crack addicts. The crazy part about it was the fact that both had parents who were doctors, so they came from means. I didn’t realize that crack was that good.

It's like crime.

Can't have it if you don't report it

Narcan

More like fentanyl ODs more often lead to death than ODing on say...cocaine.

Someone i know literally died last week from fentanyl tainted coke.

Dude was a multi millionaire in his early 50s.

Poof. Gone.

Can confirm it’s being given out like candy. I’ve been through a couple of airports in the Northeast that had unmonitored narcan dispensing stations. Just grab what you need.

I was in an Irish pub in Providence, RI and some geeky looking public health official came waltzing in trying to hand out narcan to the bartenders, and this old lady that looks like she was born with a Marlboro red in her mouth(owner I think, could be wrong) comes out and tells the health worker to frick off because she isn’t taking liability for some junkie dying on her watch. It was awesome.

Look at the chart in the link. Overdoses are still massively above where they were pre-covid

Ahh I see. One of those "it's better than it was, but nowhere near where it used to be." things where one political party spikes the ball.

Sounds familiar like they've done the exact same thing with inflation.
