You do deserve downvotes for not being current in the news.

DAMMIT.
I missed it.
Could've seen it from my house.

Watching the SpaceX launch a couple of weeks ago as it went across the sky was really trippy.

The US fired a Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) early Wednesday, after President Trump called for restarting the nuclear weapons tests.

We had never totally stopped testing ICBM’s anyway. We just haven’t tested actual nuclear devices/warheads since 1992. The article makes it seem like this is unheard of when it’s not.

Yea, we didn't test a nuke but the reason shite doesn't work when you need it to is because you do not do routine ops testing on said shite.

I think we should really test on of those things. I think people have forgotten what they actually do.

They tested one in May 2025 and do so fairly regularly. In 2023 one test was destroyed in flight due to some issues being reported on its flight.

Article on tests of this from 2016.

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, California — Like a giant pen stroke in the sky, an unarmed Minuteman 3 nuclear missile roared out of its underground bunker on the California coastline Thursday and soared over the Pacific, inscribing the signature of American power amid growing worry about North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weapons capable of reaching U.S. soil.

If WWIII starts, there is no "be prepared". It's over the second it begins.

our ballistic subs test missiles regularly. why would you not test your weapons systems to ensure the tech/hardware and operators are good to go?

Save one in the chamber just in case. Dehydration is not a good way to go out.
