re: Real versus engineered flooring
Posted by NASA_ISS_Tiger on 8/5/26 at 3:30 pm to SlidellCajun
I hate our engineered HW floors. We moved in April 2014. By October of 2016 the two labradors we had already had destroyed several planks with their claws at the back door. Literally took the top veneer of of the planks. We are either gonna go back with vinyl or real hardwoods. You can't sand down and repair EHW.

Honestly I've probably spent less that $50 in my lifetime...and I'm north of 50 years old.
Filibuster Question
Posted by NASA_ISS_Tiger on 7/28/26 at 12:28 pm
When folks talk about ending the filibuster, is that for one bill and one bill only or does that affect all bills for that congressional session?
In other words if Bill A is up for debate and the filibuster is ended/canceled, when Bill B comes up later that week...does it have the filibuster in place or is it gone based on precedent of Bill A being canceled. Does it matter if the 2 bills are related?

One not mentioned: Certainty. I have not used it but I know a lot of people who use Certainty and Celsius together in Bermuda lawns. I don't see roses listed on the tolerant ornamental plants though. Always try to look at the label for tolerance for ornamentals.
re: Is it okay to complain about gas prices here?
Posted by NASA_ISS_Tiger on 7/23/26 at 11:50 am to Roll Tide Ravens
Yup...all those oil and gas speculators are killing America. America doesn't use that much oil from that region..but they'll make you believe we do. Either that or India, China and Japan do and they are buying it up and pricing America out of the small amount we do get from the Middle East.

Damn. Sounds kinda hypocritical to me. I guess you believe the Pope can do no wrong either.
And yes, I'm a lifelong Catholic...but I see the errs of the Church. If my wife became Baptist or another non-Catholic Christian religion (as long as it's not a cult), I'd probably be a better man for her bible knowledge would quickly outpace mine.

Thanks for catching that. I see so much on Bermuda I thought his was Bermuda also. I see now that it's not. Yeah don't use MSMA on St Aug or centipede.

Best way to combat the Satan of weeds aka Dallisgrass is a good pre-emergent schedule/program. Once it seeds, it's the devil on Earth.
After they have rooted: When you cut it, you'd be smart to cut the seed heads first with a pair of scissors and bag those heads so they don't broadcast with the mower. If they broadcast...you'll be fighting it every year...ask me...I know.
Of course the forbidden MSMA also works, but I can't endorse it or tell people to use it.

1985-1991. First year of HS to first year of college. Before that I don't remember much and I was awkward. After the first year of college until I got my degree I don't recall much other than football games, EE classes, working and long study hours in the lab.

My mom and dad had a 32 foot 5th wheel with 3 slide outs he pulled with his C2500 HD. Only mod he had done was put airbags for the rear suspension. No issues whatsoever.

POTUS tired of everyone calling the shots from the grandstands. This move makes everyone play ball. China and those dependent on Iranian oil will start to feel it first. I hope they search and seize all those drone parts coming from Temu because you know Iran can't manufacture all those parts themselves. That kind of mass production is coming from China, Russia, and North Korea.
re: Would you be in favor of destroying infrastructure even if it leads to civilian deaths?
Posted by NASA_ISS_Tiger on 4/7/26 at 10:58 am to Ingeniero
I'll turn that question around. Does the US current adversary care how many civilian deaths it is responsible for? No, they do not. I believe in an eye for an eye. We can be more selective in nature and target infrastructure and minimize civilian losses, I agree, but Iran doesn't care who or what they hurt/kill. UN chair says what POTUS wants to do is likened to war crimes....when will he hold the Iran regime to the same standards?
Iran is playing by "Rules for thee, but not for me". That's not a level playing field. Sometimes you need to level the playing field with strategic bombing.
Linebacker in Vietnam brought the North Vietnamese to the table. It works. Nagasaki and Hiroshima brought the proud Japanese to the table (I'm not saying we need to go nuclear on Iran), but it worked and in the meantime it actually minimizes losses. The Iran regime DOES NOT CARE ABOUT CIVILIAN DEATHS! The UN is playing pattycakes with this situation.

On mine it wasn't the wax seal. Come to find out it was the tank to bowl seal and it was leaking down the side and around the front.
re: So Iran keeps destroying US/Israeli infrastructure..Trump keeps saying they are crippled..
Posted by NASA_ISS_Tiger on 3/30/26 at 12:13 pm to Toomer Deplorable
Where has he said they are 100% destroyed? I've heard 90% and seriously had my doubts about that number too. Look politicians lie. Biden lied about his health. Obama lied about the cost of the ACA. If you don't realize that all politicians lie, then you are naive. It's the name of the game. Oh...and the media lies too.
It's all about an agenda. I don't care if you're on the right, the left, or the middle. Someone, somewhere has an agenda.

A crippled person walks slower than a healthy person (not making fun of handicapped people, just stating a fact). A crippled war machine destroys things at a slower pace. They have to be more selective in their targets. Iran will continually evolve and even though they are crippled, they are getting help from the likes of Russia and North Korea. As far as HOW CRIPPLED they are....you need to realize they have gone un-managed/controlled since the 1970s. That's a LONG time to build up conventional weapons stockpiles. They have deep pockets for military budgets. Think about how they treat their people....money other nations spend on environmental areas, welfare, medical needs....they probably don't. That money goes into weapons and R&D for weapons.
