Sorry to hear this baw.

I know this wasn’t from the genetic testing but I’ve heard those genetic tests can throw off some really nasty false positives. Hope you got a similar situation going on.

Both risk factors your odds of having any kind of issue is like 11%. Given the previous genetic testing, you have a better than 90% chance and everything is perfectly fine.

The bowel issue more often than not is because there was some blood in the amniotic fluid.

After losing a child at about 22 weeks just under 2 years ago, I learned you(we) are not alone in this kind of thing. So many people go through complications and even loss than you would ever imagine. Keep the positivity and educate all your options. Ask questions even if you think they are dumb. Good luck to yall. Keep your head up.

The good Lord has blessed you and your wife with this little boy. I'm praying for full healthy development. The womb is certainly a place where you see the most incredible miracles take place.

One of our kids had some "markers" show up during an early scan that ended up "correcting" themselves as more development took place.

Either way, prayers for strength to you and your wife. One thing I realized quickly is that parenting is a whole lot of worrying, it starts with sonograms, then the delivery, then if they're eating enough, and it goes on and on and on.

We had to do IVF for our children. So they do an ultrasound every week up to 10weeks. Everything was fine until our 10 week ultrasound. They saw fluid on her back. We had to go to maternal fetal. Doctor said it looked like she could have all these different horrible things. We did a genetic test. Came back normal. I have a healthy 5yr old that is absolutely perfect!

Ultrasounds aren’t perfect. They said my 3 month old would be 11 pounds when she was born. She was only 7lbs. Wife was happy about that ??. Do another genetic test and second opinion. I know it’s scary man. Keep y’all heads up and I’ll say a prayer.

I don't post much here anymore but I have been in your shoes. At 20 weeks our son was diagnosed with a condition that is almost 100% lethal. He lived for 5 days after he was born. He put up a great fight. Prayers to you and your family. Stay strong, enjoy and celebrate this pregnancy and your son. No matter the outcome, he is a gift from God and you should cherish the moment. I would suggest having an evaluation at one of the top childrens hospitals: Texas Childrens or Boston Childrens.

I'm incredibly sorry for this news. I truly understand why you're posting this. And at the same time, why you don't know why you're posting this.

I truly hope and pray that nothing in my life gets better for me and instead, gets better for you. This is truly one of my deepest fears. God bless.

Sorry for using the word "truly" 57 times btw

Prayers to you and your family. Wife and I went through something like this. On one of our ultrasounds, they said the baby had like a 1/10 chance to have downs. So we waited for 2 weeks to see the specialist, and everything was ok. 1/10 chance is pretty high for down's, which is what we were told. Our baby was healthy and had no issues. I hope you get the answers you are seeking, god bless you and your family.

Bro. I am so sorry. I can’t imagine going through that. I’m not the most religious guy on the planet, but you need to pray.

Thanks for sharing. If nothing else, you're going to get a lot of people to squeeze their little ones a little tighter today.

I dont have any medical advice to share. I hope it works out well for yall. Prayers have already been sent. Chin up chest out. Your wife will need it.

Today the specialist confirmed he was smaller than he should be (if our date of conception is correct, but hell all we are going off of is some conception app), but that the base of his neck is wide and his intestines show up too bright. Now they are telling us there is a high chance he not only could have Down’s (though he tested negative at 10w), but also cystic fibrosis and/or multiple sclerosis. They tell us he could be developmentally delayed, blind, deaf, or still born. That he could die an early incredibly painful death. All sorts of horrific shite.

Went through something similar with one of mine. Doctor said baby may be stillborn or live a couple days and was essentially going to be born without a skull. Even tossed out abortion as a medical possibility.

Baby born…generally ok. He does have some cerebral palsy symptoms and a minor learning disability but nothing close to what the doctors were saying.

If the good Lord decides to bless you with one of his most beloved creatures you spend the rest of your life in happiness.

Down's syndrome children, and adults, may not live the life you or I would want but they are by far the happiest people on this Earth given the support they need and they will 100% make your life better for it.

Having said that I hope your child is born healthy. Being the parent of a Down's syndrome child is a long and arduous road. Most parents don't realize how precious those children are until they are grown.

Been through something similar. Polysistic kidney disease discovered around 22 weeks. Absolutely devastating.

All I can say is very few will really know what you are going through. Heartfelt prayers to you and your wife.

Your wife is going to need you more than ever….

So my wife and I were told around 22-23 weeks our son would likely be stillborn or die very shortly after birth. Hes thirteen years old and doing just fine. A very good friend of mine was told at 20 weeks his son was gonna have Down’s syndrome. He’s 17 years old and perfectly fine. Sometimes even doctors can be wrong. All that being said I’d get a second opinion no matter what. Prayers for y’all
