Prayers to you and yours man.

We just had our first born and I can't imagine what you are going through.

God Bless You and praying that that baby comes out healthy and without any of those potential problems.

These “soft” markers are just that… soft! Meaning usually only a few percent. Ask for a balllpark probability. A 3% chance of an abnormality is high compared say the usual 0.3% chance. That means you have a ten fold increase in an abnormality.
this.

With normal blood work I wouldn’t put a whole lot of weight on these markers. Of course that is easy to say sitting where I sit. It would be a terrible time to be the OP. I wish them the best

Having said that I hope your child is born healthy. Being the parent of a Down's syndrome child is a long and arduous road.

You are a saint.

I don't have that in me.

Thanks for all the kind words, prayers, and support.

I’m happy to share that the first test results have come in, and the little man is fine. Still waiting on a few other results for some minor stuff, but the take away is that he is probably a week or two younger than we thought and going to be just fine.

Wow. I’m really glad things worked out well. What a wild emotional roller coaster ride you have been on. It takes a toll.

Your questions are not unwarranted. You have every right to feel the medical staff has somehow gotten this very wrong. I would find a doctor with a completely different medical group and seek a different opinion. If it comes out with similar results, then you have some peace of mind.

As for you, you have to be the strong one right now. Your wife needs as little stress as possible right now. Reassure her. Even if you don’t believe the words you’re saying. Either way, you’re both in this for the long haul. So be the rock. Be the voice of reason. It’s your job now.

Glad to hear things look good.

But Jesus. Why do doctors put people through this shite? I’d be furious at them causing you so much stress over nothing.

They’ll always give you the worst case scenario because if things turn out better you’re relieved. If they gave you a positive outlook and things turned out worse you’d be pissed and they’d get sued.
