It is somewhat interesting. My wife has a very close friend that lives in London. She claims to not have a clue about how England is portrayed in the US and is adamant that it’s nonsense and everything is fine. She’s not some flaming lib or anything either

That's because complaining about it can lead to cops showing up at your door to talk to you about your comments, or potentially even worse.
