I worked maintenance at a start up for a year and we would do a food bank once a month. I'd say 9 out of 10 people were taking advantage. That job also gave me a prejudice of homeless people or as we had to call them "the abandoned" lmao. Absolute scum

It is funny when people pitch that homeless just caught some bad breaks and could easily be someone just like you.

Nah, you can be broke and dealing with shite and not resort to heroin or begging on a corner.

Did not realize how exhausting it was to have to deal with the stress of not going to work and getting free groceries.

Volunteered through work at a food bank one day basically loading boxes of groceries in people as they pulled through the line. I was amazed at the 100s of cars the supposedly ‘need’ the free food. 90% of them drive a nicer car than me and of course, never got out of the car or said thanks.

I know an incredibly poor family that uses food banks for their food. One of their chief complaints about it was that people with cars got first pick and those who had to walk got whatever was leftover.

This is why I am against government social programs in general. The ones who take don't deserve it. And the ones that deserve it won't take it.

Like the catholic church food banks?

In my parish we vet every person based on need and have turned people away numerous times that are trying to abuse the system.
Stereotypes are based in fact, and the fact is 100% of those we turn away (since I’ve been there) have been black. We do not discriminate based on religion or skin color, just how shitty of a person you are. Getting mad and cursing the priest doesn’t help your case either…

I grew up in a dirt poor immigrant family and my parents would never have dreamed of taking this kind of charity, especially not relying on it. You'd be amazed at how far you can stretch a dollar if you really use your brain.

Not enough people believe in "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" these days.

She was courteous at least

The steady yawning for the camera as if she is so above all of this. Based solely on appearance, I would equate what she is doing to stealing.

I volunteer once a week at a food bank. People have to get their income verified and they can only come once a month to get a sack of groceries, which isn't much. What they get depends on the generosity of the donors. Usually it's cheap staples. Around holidays we try to give them something extra, like a ham at Easter.

Most of the people are obviously poor, disabled, elderly or all of the above. One of our regulars is a lady whose sole mode of transportation is a powered wheelchair. A few are homeless. Occasionally we get somebody with a fairly nice car or who seems well off. That's not my department. They met the criteria, so they get some food. Maybe they're picking it up for someone else or maybe they've encountered hardship. If you're judgmental you need to find a different charity to give your time to.

In the year plus I've been doing this I've never had someone act entitled. A few are embarassed, almost all are grateful.

She's yawning because she actually had to drag her fat arse out of bed to take advantage of our taxpayer provided food. It's obvious that she can't be expected to hold down a job . . .she would have to wake up before noon for that.

There are a bunch of food banks down here. I see people on Nextdoor asking for food. They post the list of foodbanks dates and times. Most of the people asking are too lazy to fart. They immediately ask if the food bank will deliver to them, or if somebody will please pick it up and bring it to them.

Here is one I saw yesterday. They don't have a car so apparently they are completely helpless.

I’ll NEVER donate or work at a food bank. I saw this shite years ago. Same for Christmas gifts for “poor” children. They are ungrateful little shits.

It must be exhausting driving around collecting all that free shite. She can't stop yawning.

2 Thessalonians 3:10-11

10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. 11 For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies.

Chicken or bean for protein?

I would have given 10,000 to 1 odds she would pick chicken.
