Are you implying that not being able to find a decent job in a shithole is the person's fault?

Graduated LSU, got 3 job offers, bestest one was in Houston so I took it. It was OK but I moved again 5 years later.
Some dickhead's gonna pop up and tell you how you should repay your tops scholarship.

Retired to FL 3 yrs ago. Medical is good. Overall financial benefits(taxes & cost of living) is much lower compared to LA. People are not as open, warm & friendly as in LA. (*cannot advise regarding job market or schools.)

Quality of life is just better in terms of weather, employment opportunities and entertainment options. Only thing I miss is the food.

Moved to HOuston after grad school just to try somewhere new. Lived there 4 years then accepted a job and moved to L.A. Lived there 6 years then moved to Boston because I always wanted to live in Boston. After 2 years moved back to L.A. Been back 10 years. Hoping to leave this god forsaken place at some point.

Afternoon NoHo, move back to Houston. Would be a fine outstanding citizen to add to Texas.

My job offered no health insurance. I got a 30% raise and health insurance. I no longer have to pay state income tax. LA has the highest tax to lowest services per capita. LA politicians constantly are thinking of what else they can tax.
Less and less people want to work and expect others to foot their bills. They also are demanding more and better, without being willing to lift a finger to get it. I had a new wife and baby and feeding, clothing and housing them was enough, without all of the financial burden heaped on me by the nanny state.

I moved to Georgia as soon as I graduated. No regrets.
The career opportunities and quality of life here are just better.

Thanks, Muddy. I still have lots of friends there. But, I'm hoping for someplace much, much smaller.

Gotcha, burbs of Houston then :-)
The area probably has more people from Louisiana than natural born Texans.

Moved to the Raleigh-Durham area 1.5 years ago. Better for my career and better quality of life. Closer to family that has also left LA

I left for Sarasota FL and there were many reasons but here are the big ones:
Less air pollution
Lower crime rates
Lower taxes
Much better schools
More economic opportunity
Have not had a moment of regret.

Houston is just people not from Houston complaining about all the people moving to Houston. Austin is just a worse version of this because it grew 10x as fast so the person actually from there has a legitimate argument.

Moved to Charlotte, NC for my wife's residency. Was there for 3 years.
Moved back last year to be close to family.
Other than family, pretty much every aspect of life was superior in NC, except for 6 Saturdays in the fall and the occasional offshore trip.

Better career prospects and salary. Doubt I ever return to Louisiana.

Left NOLA in 1989, primarily for business reasons, but the kids and their education also played a part. Was gone almost 25 years & back home. TX was great for the reasons mentioned, but this is where I want to cross the finish line.
