Ya gotta pay ta play this year or buy the Chinese crap or do without. Only one choice for me & it’s not the last two.
re: So who do you want us to draft that will realistically be there at #14?

Best available, except QB, preferably OT. Take any solid trade offer that adds pics, this year or next. The team is getting old & needs a subtle rebuild keeping the fan base happy :-)

IMSA 24 Hours of Sebring
Posted by tigernnola on 3/14/24 at 6:31 pm
The second race of the season starts at 9:40 A.M. USA network will pick up coverage at 3:00 CST.
Through the first two practice sessions today, the Independent JDC-Miller Porsche 963 led the way. Followed by two Cadillacs and an Acura ARC-06. The Penske Porsche cars were fifth & seventh with a BMW in between.
Lexus ran 1 & 2 in GTD.
GTP will be a battle of attrition with 1.69 sec separating 1 & 10 through two sessions. A great endurance race in the making. The 3.74 mile track is brutally rough & bumpy that takes its toll on cars & drivers.

re: How do you deal with the guilt of living far away from your aging parents?
Posted by tigernnola on 3/6/24 at 8:20 pm
I am that aging Dad. I moved the family to TX when the kids were 5 & 6. I retired to the Hill Country for a few years where my daughter settled. My son ironically wound up back in NOLA for a short time & I joined him to help open his business. Promised him 2 years. That was 12 years ago. Of course he is back in TX now along with his sister & step brother & sister. All have children, my grandchildren.
Don’t feel so guilty. I understand the feelings, but understand we each have to travel our own path. TX is there home. They are comfortable raising there families. They understand that ole Dad just could not be at peace there. We talk often, text more often & I visit three or four times a year. Until one of them takes the time to learn, someone has to cook T-Day :-)
My Dad & I were close, but in different places. To this day, I think he died never really understanding what I did professionally. So I could never go to him for advise or a consult. The day he passed, I never felt so alone. Took me a long time to accept that I was really on my own.
Enjoy and appreciate the time you get together, but know your parents get it & are so proud of what you are doing and your courage to travel your own path.
Wish I had the magic words to relieve your anguish.

re: ESPN: Saints Could Trade Lattimore

Maybe that should read “should” trade. At least a 1st & two additional picks would work. Definitely a post May trade if it happens.

It seems forever that the benchmark was 4.4. That may have to be adjusted. At last count, 21 players have run sub 4.4.
These youngsters keep getting bigger, faster & stronger.

Coached the kids for twelve years in a Dallas suburb. Football, basketball, baseball, softball & even soccer when I had to. Football was primary focus & assisted the others.
Yes, the parents can be the problem. Not much I can add to what has already been said here. Every group is different & you just have to deal with it. Served on the football BOD for six years, two as President. One year, the roommate was director of the cheerleaders, so we got all the phone calls. :-)
I learned a lot more from the kids then the parents over the years. In the end,it can be a incredibly rewarding experience. Some of those kids are now in their forties, and I grin when I run into one & are greeted with, “Hi Coach”.
While most are rec leagues, remember, the kids know wether they win or lose. The games are a lot more fun for them on the winning side.
One thing I have not seen mentioned; never underestimate what a kid can do. Some may need a little more attention, but all are capable of improving beyond your expectations.
Coach’m up and make it fun & competitive, learning the attributes of team sports. Who knows, even some of the parents may offer appreciation at the end of the season :-)

Thoth Sunday is Mardi Gras for me. Monkey Hill is on magazine st & a great spot to camp out. Thoth has fought to keep this route to pass Children’s Hospital & the assisted living homes on Henry Clay.
The weather was ok & the crowds were great. I drove the route early, 7:30. If you showed up with a ladder at that time you were late. The first opening on St Charles was almost Martin Luther King Blvd. Smokers, grilles & boilers were smoking & very little coffee being consumed

You just never know when these types of moves happen. Maybe he simply does like to travel/fly a lot. Lord knows the west coast schools will build some frequent flier miles during the season.
Or ….. there is more to the story.. uhmmmm

I can only do one or two a year. Was at Road Atlanta last October for the Petit LeMans. Great long weekend. Old friend hooked me up with tower passes. Ugh! Only way to go racin’ at my age
re: Hypothetically, if you could get rid of NIL or transfer portal, which would you choose?
Posted by tigernnola on 2/9/24 at 6:13 pm
NIL gives the athletes the opportunity to to rightfully earn a few dollars for there ability, but really needs to be overseen rightly.
The transfer portal gives the athletes the same privilege as the coaching staff, but really needs to be limited. A few seem to be moving every year.
If I have to choose one…………. The portal has to go ….. reluctantly.

A lifetime ago, started Shotokan Karate. Have continued on and off for almost 70 years. Former neighbor was world champ in the late 70’s and today is the highest ranked sensi in the US; 8th degree black. Studied in Japan many years to get there.
All of the kids have at least been exposed to some degree. The grandkids are next.
