Same reasons everyone else here mentioned. Crime, school, politicians, personal injury attorneys at every corner, litter, culcha, trashy people, low wages, no services despite paying significant taxes, insurance rates, etc.
I was offered more money and a much lower stress job than the one I was doing. Tried to make Louisiana work after the military and college but there’s just too much going against it. Unfortunately, I don’t think Louisiana is fixable.

Beautiful places to visit. Might want to spend some time up there in the winter before moving.
Coldest temperature I ever experienced was in Wyoming. -30 degrees. I could never live in it.

Silicon Valley. Was tired of working in the heat and the nasty arse plants just to make a halfway decent living, and also just fed up with the roads and the long commute through Baton Rouge, and all the fat, stupid people.
Tripled my income overnight, and the same for the benefits package, or more. One of the best things I've ever done. Great weather, all the good bands come through the area, the best motorcycle roads in the country, and just generally nicer and more honest people than in Louisiana.
You don't realize just how bad Louisiana and the deep south are in general until you get out.

I left in 04 and moved to Austin. I wasn't long out of college with an electronics degree. There was very little work in Louisiana that interested me. I wanted nothing to do with chem plants and there were no hi tech companies there.
Been in the Austin area ever since, with the exception of a 3 year stint outside of Houston.
Anytime I come back to visit Louisiana, I can't wait to leave. I could never live there again. There are some great things about Louisiana, but nowhere near enough to draw me back at all.

Sometimes I miss LA but I think it's more nostalgia than anything because I grew up there and have a lot of friends from there. Many of them have also moved out of state now.
I didn't like the place I moved to at first but I prefer it to LA now.

I left for the job I've wanted since I was a kid. For the longest time I couldn't wait to get back. Now that I've been around and lived in some other places, I've realized there is better out there(I live close to Montgomery now, but I'm not settling for this shite hole). I'll move somewhere convenient to work depending on where my next job is.

Job market sucked. I’ve experienced all the state really had to offer. Realized the only thing really keeping me there were LSU tailgates, which is like 7 days out of the year so I realized that was stupid.

I’ve lived across the US and I’ll admit the only reason I chose to live in BR is because of family/friends

I've managed to stay close enough to drive back for those. Silver lining of living East of Montgomery is an easy trip to Auburn for football every other year with baseball and basketball away games thrown in too.

I've managed to make a good living here in IT. It's been nice to raise my kid around family and friends. No doubt, the state has a myriad of issues but I still think it gets too much hate on here.

Agree... I've grown more sensitive to Louisiana hate since I've moved away. Family still lives there, but I'll never move back due to extenuating circumstances. Pains me to some degree, because I love my home state.

Moved to Chicago about 13 years ago. Fewer opportunities and LA’s low pay was reason enough. Never had a regret. Tough raising kids with not having your family around.
Miss the family and food the most, and Louisiana will always have my heart because it’s home. I can honestly say that there is no way on God’s green Earth that I would ever want to live there again.

I only lived in LA for 6 years, but I left for better schools for my son. If New Orleans had better public schools I'd move back in a heart beat

I left LA six days after my graduation ceremony in the PMAC in 2000 for Santa Monica, CA because at 22 I thought I knew everything.
