I thought living in Gulfport and Biloxi was pretty cool. You get 24-hour bars like New Orleans, but without the profoundly douchey out-of-town hipsters and artsy types.

I moved to the Landmass and wouldn't move back.

If I did, it would mean a large pay cut and a much higher cost of living.

Born / raised in New Orleans. After a few decades, I became disenchanted with living in a strange adult Fantasyland that attracted people from everywhere...mostly for the sole purpose of rampant debauchery and doing stupid things that they wouldn't be caught dead doing in their hometowns. I needed a place that offered me a much more quiet, soothing atmosphere where people acted normally...

So, I moved to Las Vegas. :rimshot:

Moved to Baltimore MD to find work. Stayed for a couple of years, but too far from family.
Moved to Nashville, TN where I've been most of my adult life. Much better climate, no state income tax and a great place to raise a family.

Nashville and Austin are arguably the most desirable places to raise and family and job opportunities within 9 hours of Louisiana, Austin being closer of course but Nashville not that far.

I worked in Jackson so no I don’t think anything was better than Louisiana.

I moved to Murfreesboro a few years ago and absolutely loved it. Made the same money with lower cost of living and no state taxes. Their school system seems to be better as well. Their schools were nicer and or at least the building for sure seemed to be kept up better. I had to move back to Louisiana for personal reasons but I do wish it had worked out. My wife and kids liked it up there as well.

Grew up in La and lived in NO after graduating from LSU...job asked me to work in Houston for 8 weeks...by three weeks in I realized how much nicer Houston/Texas was than La. you can actually see where your tax money goes...
Job asked me to stay permanently and I did. Spent most of my adult life in Tx and now live in McKinney outside of Dallas...we just love it. Several of my wife’s family members have relocated here from CA...I will never move back.

Born and raised in Metairie. Went to UT and moved to Nashville after graduating. I get depressed any time I have to go back to LA. The best is when family and friends (who never leave NOLA) think Nashville is some small town in the middle of nowhere.

Got a job with an out of state company that did work all over the US.

There was nothing for me work wise in La.

I’m currently in a Dallas suburb and like it very much.

Reason I left was for better opportunities/quality of life. Franklin TN is pretty much one of the top places in the US, let alone the South, to live. Yes our real estate prices are high, but we have no state income tax, low property taxes, low insurance rates (home and auto) and one of the top public school districts in the US (25.4 avg ACT scores for public schools). We get 4 seasons and are centrally located geographically, and with Nashville being a Southwest hub direct inexpensive flights are easy to obtain.

Williamson County is tough to beat when it comes to best places to live (great schools, it’s safe, very clean, nice houses, lots of jobs, close to Nashville).

Housing is high but still affordable. You probably aren’t going to lose money value wise on a house in Nashville any time soon.

Better job opportunities and more money. Was originally Florida but ended up in DFW area. Love the area just not the sports teams. I hate all the local sports teams here except the Rangers. My wife and kids are all “from” here. We might move out of here one day day but we are not coming back to LA ever

Here, here.

Got tired of the horrible BR commute situation, crime, litter, lack of zoning and marshy look in outlying parishes. I have always found Mississippi prettier and providing upward mobility to those willing to work in underserved areas.

Although I spent a year at a halfway house in Arizona
