Well that’s encouraging. Lots of money sitting on the sideline waiting to see if any other legitimate candidate will enter the race.

I was there all day Sunday.
It shows how good things can be when there are a dozen law enforcement officers and military personnel in sight at all times.

Helena announced early and has a lot of backing and name recognition . Anyone that wants to compete with her has to announce soon

It was so damn cool seeing the city absolutely shine. I was out and about all weekend and it was so great. Clean, safe. People were having a lot of fun and getting along.

Most of the people out and about this weekend were not from New Orleans.
If only they could figure out a way to replace the current residents.

Walt Leger? Not sure about the weird hiatus part but he has been out of politics for the last couple years

Walt knows he wouldn’t get elected. Why would he run for mayor when he’s got a great position making real good money. I’m sure whoever this poster is speaking about, Walt has his hand in him running. Probably not ideal working with the current Mayor.

I would start allowing corporate sponsorship of Mardi gras krews. That could bring in money.
But we really need an industry here that draws huge conventions and could temper our reliance on hospitality.

You can pretty much say this for all major/mid size cities across America. There are a few outliers, but mostly all have corrupt shite leadership.

Yep. Same problem as 3rd world countries. Corrupt leadership.

I'm intrigued by this unnamed mystery candidate.

I think Moreno would be an utter disaster.

Helena Moreno already had a lot of signs uptown. I can see people getting behind her.
But I'm curious to see if Charbonnet runs again

Everything you love about New Orleans is when white people bring the super bowl to town.

Moreno is far far far too liberal for my liking, but at least she works hard. And after meeting with her in person, I do think she will be practical about a lot of things, was very complimentary of Jeff Landry, and was very pro-Troop NOLA.

Most of the local leadership was sidelined,

By sidelined do you just mean not as visible? Locals have been planning this for years with the state and feds. I do of course agree that except for a few most local politicians are worthless.

As usual, money solves most problems and a WHOLE lot of money was thrown out to make the week turn out like it. With that said if the city strived for 20% of this week was it would be amazing.

Need to bring those days back. Zero tolerance for the criminals running wild and bums. Profile. It works.

Or perhaps it can show that NO is still a great city with many problems like every other city and you can still go there and have fun and be safe?

She will be light years better than the current administration simply by showing up. She will also have a stronger relationship with the city council and many in the local business community. The question is how much she will prioritize getting shite done vs pursuing an ideological agenda that does not address the foundational issues.

You need to send Gravy Chambers the link to this thread so he can stop his ridiculous gloating.
