I will say I am in Meadowbend off Staring / Burbank and have seen a drop about 1/4" overnight. I checked the Bluebonnet / Bayou Fountain intersection and it looks like there is a decent flow heading out towards the Manchac. I think the swamps / siegan area / bluebonnet area took most of the backflow and it didnt quite make it all the way to me at staring
Fantastic news! I agree judging from reports that the swamp was still taking water. Everyone should now have Spanish Lake Swamp as one of their favorite bodies of water now. The little lake that could!

I just received phone service. No TV or wifi. No idea on receding water. Can someone tell me if Jones Creek has started receding? Thank you.

The houses in The Lakes at Highland all appear unscathed. Seems like the subdivision worked as designed. Ponds filled up, backed up into the streets for extra capacity, homes stayed dry. Guess the flood maps with the narrow bands of Flood Zone X following our streets are pretty accurate. I'd still like to beat the ever loving you know what out of whatever officials gave permission for that crooked developer to fill in where the RC planes used to fly. Stupid stupid stupid

I can confirm its not rising but it hasn't started receding off of S Harrell's Ferry road
At least that's from people on site

Jones creek probably took the biggest brunt of backwater flow, but yes, it is receding.

Daughter trying to make it from BR to NOLA. She is around LSU campus. Best route to take or roads still closed?

Does anyone know if water has been going down in Old Hammond/Oneal area?
Posted on 8/15/16 at 8:04 am to Grassy1
I'm not sure but I doubt it. That spot was ok when I left.

Anyone know how bad it got on chariot drive in centurion place neighborhood? It's right off o'neil. I have friends there who have evacuated. Thanks.

Thank you so much for the news. That's been the question everyone asking here with no electricity and wifi, and no one has the answer. Wasn't being talked about much on radio yesterday and very frustrating.

I do want to thank everyone who helped keep us informed on this thread throughout the whole process. Seeing water up to your doorstep can be a harrowing event. Thanks to all the news here I was able to adequately prepare for the worse with the house and get out. I just happen to be one of the lucky ones. Prayers to all the affected.

I'd tell her to take River Road from campus all the way to L'Auberge and hit Hwy 30 to Gonzales probably will take awhile

You okay fest? Hear from your boys? My neighbor said that water is starting to recede, albeit slowly.
It didn't get in the house. Your boys should be fine

george oneal and jones creek intersection was a lake yesterday afternoon. If you can get to the albertsons via jones creek headed north, you may be able to get through that parking lot, cross the other strip mall parking lot to get past the water.
That was my experience as of yesterday... I was trying to get to someone past oneal.
Btw if you have to go past Kabobs... Bring a boat... It was chest deep
