Consider exit at La 22 to La 70. Cross sunshine bridge and go towards Pierre Part. Then take La 69 to White Castle and then La 1 to Port Allen in order to avoid BR. My sister took the route yesterday with no issues.

From NOLA I would take I 49 to Lafayette- if clear- Lafayette had serious issues as well.

The Great Flood of 2016: Backflow Flooding Occuring (8/14/16) by LSUweights Update from the Lakes at Bluebonnet condos Water rose about 1 foot overnight I still see about 4 feet of green grass between our big lake and Bayou Fountain Water on both sides of Bluebonnet at Albertsons and the Burger King Hopefully we have crested!!!
That matches the crest in the manchac. I will say this, if you start to see it go down some, then it is likely receding. If not you should see it do so in the coming hours.

Also note that I-10 is closed for about 60 miles from Lafayette to 165.

Are all of the pumps still off in Ascension?

Any idea when 10 will open back up or Nicholson will be passable to get to Gonzales.

how will the rain we are supposed to get today and tomorrow affect the rate of receding waters? will it have much of an effect as long as it's your normal front that comes through and doesn't sit over us and drop rain?

It's just baffling that all night bayou manchac was rising and we didn't really see much down bayou fountain. It really feels like maybe the soccer fields or that swamp near the bend on Burbank soaked up some water all the way down through Spanish lakes.
Bayou manchac wasn't rising that much. Maybe half a foot. The water never made it further up bayou fountain because the elevation is higher there

Fairway Oaks all the way in the back? If so, my SIL lives in the 2nd house from the dead end. BIL is still there and he said its risen only about 3 inches, but still not in house.

I will say I am in Meadowbend off Staring / Burbank and have seen a drop about 1/4" overnight. I checked the Bluebonnet / Bayou Fountain intersection and it looks like there is a decent flow heading out towards the Manchac. I think the swamps / siegan area / bluebonnet area took most of the backflow and it didnt quite make it all the way to me at staring.

Anyone have an update on Sherwood? Still bad?

Highway 190 is also seeing a lot of congestion from Opelousas to Eunice due to the I-10 closure. Any trip west is going to take time today

Pumps at Marvin Braud are running, they always were, never turned off. Pumps at Henderson Bayou went under sometime yesterday.
