I work for the DOL. people are being crushed, some will never recover. These shutdowns are destroying hard working people.

Our country is not built to sit at home income less for long. If this lasts another two weeks plus we will be in serious trouble as a society and economically. People need to be productive.

There is also a possibility that their model is incorrect. Some highly credentialed people have spoken out against it.
Neil Ferguson, the guy behind the imperial college study, also modeled a mass pandemic with almost 1.2 million cases and the medical system overwhelmed for swine flu. He was suggesting school closures and these social distancing shutdowns for that also, which was clearly very incorrect. I've seen similar claims that he missed badly on Ebola also but have been unable to verify.

I work in risk assessment
in risk assessment, you have to calculate for the worst case scenario because you have to assume that is what will happen
but then you have take other considerations in like economics, politics, societal, etc
a lot of the studies/models that I see people sharing are pure worst case scenario models and how to handle them with zero considerations of any other factors
I don't really find them all that helpful other than promoting more fear

If you guys have not been taking this seriously, the time is now. We have not been able to take a single patient who we had to put on the ventilator off. The numbers- including deaths are underreported bc we are not allowed to report it as Covid until the test comes back positive. We are waiting on test results for over 1000 and really should test 10000. Today we are opening 33 more critical care beds bc we have overwhelmed even our emergency plans. I am worried, stressed and scared. This is not a joke and I want y’all to be safe and take care of your families and especially your parents.
We are on the same trajectory as Italy and Iran bc we as a population have not stopped congregating.

Little piece of info I was told yest by a friend of mine who works for a dr.
She said they’ve had patients since this fall come in to see them with these symptoms.
Many tested negative for flu, strep and or pneumonia.
It’s been around for a while was their point, at that time they just didn’t know the diagnosis.
She also said their workload or patient influx hasn’t really increased last week or so. She also said to their knowledge, no one they treated for these symptoms past few months has died from it.
