Well, statistics are what you read into them. More people are being tested, so the death rate will decrease as a percentage. It will not end until the recovery assistance is out of cash :-)

do you honestly think that putative group would have been able to (1) come up with the plan and (2) sell it?

Do I think the pandemic response team would have been able to come up with a response to a pandemic?

Why the hell would you fire the fricking pandemic response team btw???

while he was calling out the media for their fear mongering

The only play in his play book

As if this pandemic is the MEDIA’s fault

and they called him a racist, which looks worse and more stupid than all the stupidity Trump tweeted early on

Idk if it’s racist, but it’s clearly a play to his base who, rather than take personal responsibility for their lot in life, prefer to blame the other as having taken something from them.

These are the same people who seem to think society owes them something because they grew up watching too much Star Wars & thought they were Luke Skywalker & are big mad because TV shows don’t cater to them the way it did in the 80’s.

That didn't happen. It's a myth that has already been debunked....by the pandemic response team.

Fox just said Italy is still seeing an increase and are tightening the screws - cops monitoring cell phone data to see where people have been. It’s not going away

aren't they still in a bit of a lag period?

not that it's not bad now, but if they're still increasing in a week or so, that would be a very very bad sign

Trump was directly asked about it and even he didn’t deny it.

I can only assume you’re getting this “it was debunked” nonsense from some far right fake news source.

no. not "a response". the best response we have in hindsight: martial law in all coastal, urban areas and locking the cities down

quote:

As if this pandemic is the MEDIA’s fault

no. but toilet paper going off the shelves and the public still making mistakes, is

it's not

uh, what? he stopped travel from the country of origin of the pandemic we're discussing currently. this is all on China. how could individuals in America take responsibility for China's behavior? they were lying then and are still lying.

we stopped travel from Europe ahead of the curve as well. he was taking major heat for that even after Europe was later called the epicenter of the pandemic. it took Europe closing their own borders, in violation of the spirit and law of the EU, for the media to move on

trump can take the L for his early tweets, but the media has to take 2 major Ls for these acts of tomfoolery

You know exactly what I mean. He will take any opportunity to label or overplay anything as part of a foreign threat. It’s how he keeps his base angry and afraid.

LINK

quote:

The official who once ran the White House pandemic program dismissed a false Democratic talking point that Trump eliminated the pandemic-response team and criticized reporters for parroting the claim in news stories.

"No, the White House didn’t ‘dissolve’ its pandemic response office. I was there," wrote former National Security Council adviser Tim Morrison for the Washington Post on Monday.

"It has been alleged by multiple officials of the Obama administration, including in The Post, that the president and his then-national security adviser, John Bolton, ‘dissolved the office' at the White House in charge of pandemic preparedness," Morrison wrote. "Because I led the very directorate assigned that mission, the counterproliferation and biodefense office, for a year and then handed it off to another official who still holds the post, I know the charge is specious."

quote:

As part of an effort to slim down the historically bloated National Security Council, the directorate of global health and biodefense was merged with two other positions—not eliminated—according to Morrison.

"If anything, the combined directorate was stronger because related expertise could be commingled," he wrote.

quote:

Morrison, who testified in the House impeachment inquiry, said media figures and politicians have acted in bad faith to attack the White House.

"It is this reorganization that critics have misconstrued or intentionally misrepresented," Morrison wrote.

It’s a virus that doesn’t need to be tied to the “dirty shithole countries trying to destroy America” narrative.

Fighting globalism is not a winning strategy for our country.
