Went to Covington farmers market last weekend

Smaller vendor turnout than expected but still grabbed

Peaches, peppers, fresh bread, some prepared sauces, and a decent wagyu boudin

Mr. Okra would roll by my house every Sunday and sling produce. Only thing I would buy off of him was some bananas and pineapple….which were close to being too ripe.

Yet, my daughter would kill herself to get out the house when she heard his speaker coming down the street.

There’s one vendor who prepares various Greek spice rubs and marinades. They are damn good. Better than I could make and flavors I would not have thought to put together

I actually do grow bananas and pineapples. But you're never going to see me hocking them at the Farmers Market.

Irony is growing up in a small town outside of Pensacola Florida I remember tons of curb markets with produce grown in the area.

Even the grocery stores, like the old IGA, stocked a bunch of locally grown produce.

Now, there's a sidewalk market every few blocks from my house in Brooklyn NY full of locally grown produce but it's hard to find right in the middle of farming country in the Florida panhandle.

Your dumb arse wants to tell all your friends you got this zucchini from a farmers market more than you want local food. If you really wanted farm eggs, produce, etc., you'd be willing to not be "seen" around all the cheer moms with Range Rovers and find a farm to go pick stuff up at through websites like Go find a farmer.

On the other hand, it's sad that one can so easily just substitute Americanization for corporatization and, even if somewhat incorrect, most people know exactly what they mean.


They mean that you used to be able to buy locally grown produce everywhere without going to a trendy farmer's market or item by item from a farm you found on a website.

This is bullshite. We go to the one downtown almost every weekend. Get all of our meat from there, most of our produce, dairy products, etc. More expensive than a grocery store but higher quality, the money stays locally, and I know where the food is coming from. Nearly everything that is sold is produced locally so idk what farmers market youre going to
