That is correct, because the time fresh fruits and vegetables in any locale is very short. In other words, sweet corn or strawberries all ripen within a short period in any particular locale. If you want product, you have to get it from somewhere else where it is currently in season.

The Asian Farmer's Markets in Atlanta are great. Tons of fresh produce, with good prices.

Ours has a nice set up. Saturday mornings with a mix of local farms and produce with other vendors (bakers, other crafts). Once a month during the summer/early Fall they do a night market where they invite other types of vendors with prepared foods/trucks/etc.

Hammond has a wonderful Saturday market. Farm fresh (from actual local farms) vegetable produce, mushrooms, chicken, eggs, dairy, pork, beef, etc. we do the majority of our shopping there. There are only a couple craft vendors and strict rules against reselling
