Can’t talk about disco without talking about Soul Train.

It was ok musically, especially in the early days before they called it disco, but it wore think quickly.
When it hit big every has-been thought they could cash in again with a disco album. Ooooof.

Here's an example of early disco before it jumped the shark.
It could be pretty good done right. RIP big man.

Every Saturday morning, from the mid 70s through the mid 80s, we could tune in to Soul Train. It would be followed by back to back karate movies. No better time to be kid. And we only had 5 channels to choose from.

The producer released this album before the movie. The rest of the story is obvious. This greatest group in history spent the next 30 years "proving" they were way more than disco!!

Notice how there's no fat black women in those soul train videos? That was before the welfare single mother disease took hold.

“We were emulating John Travolta”
A nurse acquaintance was an ER nurse in Monroe during the Saturday Night Fever timeline. There was a guy there that was semi famous for his dancing, was in the disco several nights a week.
One night he got in a car accident, came to ER in an ambulance unconcious.
They cut his clothes off and he had a dill pickle strategical taped to his inner thigh.

Those aren’t leisure suits. True leisure suits had huge pointed collars without lapels and huge collars sewn to the chest with mismatched stitching.

The boomers had the disco era and Gen X had grunge.
Disco was a lot more fun.
