This was peak Disco. While it still sounds futuristic today, in 1977 it must have sounded like aliens coming down and landing on the dance floor...

And to say it "ended" in 1979 isn't accurate we were still getting solid Disco songs in the early 80's...

I was in middle school and early HS (75-79) but did have two older brothers, and what I have learned from looking back at the time period was that
The Pill was now available in all 50 states and there was no stigma about it. "Women's liberation meant that women could date and even have casual sex and not be thought of as a slut if they were discreet.
The result was lots of sex. This was pre-Aids and very few STI's. They both were knee deep in punta. I graduated HS in 81 and it was still good, but not as free as my brother's time.

I was 12,13,14 yrs old. DAnces/parties every week seems like. I was NOT really a dancer unless a slow commodores song was on. Grease soundtrack. SNF.
Sugarhill gang. commodores. (Boys being boys, we always slipped in some Boston, Nazareth, Styx or Skynrd into the rotation.)
It was at one of these parties at a house that a classmate brought a portable 8 track player, gathered us in a corner and wanted us to listen to something from his older brother's collection. the first Van Halen. mind blown.
Good times.
