A lot of the clubs around BR had dance floors that lit up from underneath. Some of the music would be classified as disco but they were also playing David Allen Coe and Hank Williams Jr. None of us locals did anything resembling "disco dancing." Instead I remember drinking a lot of cheap beer and waiting around to see which chicks would actually dance to Brick House.

Did anybody mention the dresses? Dancing on a elevated lighted dance floor in dresses so short you could see the bottom part of arse cheeks from seats.

It's crazy to think his dancing in movies kicked off 2 huge pop culture shifts with saturday Night Fever and the disco craze, followed by Urban Cowboy and the country music/cowboy hat/honky tonk craze. I was born in 73 but remember both. Disco was primarily during my high school years '75 - '79. I hated it then, but I'll crank it up today. Brass instruments and a funky beat. Banger.

A good fictional series based on the build up of the porn industry, disco era, and AIDS epedemic is "The Deuce" on HBO MAX. 1 of the Top 10 series ever in my opinion. And, the sound track is phenomenal.

The Disco era was awesome for me.
Living in Dallas with a good job, meeting women at the clubs were like shooting fish in a barrel.
Not disparaging the ladies, they were really coming into their own in the workplace and feeling liberated.
It was a great time to be young.
