Tallest building to be built in over 30 years in New Orleans begins construction

LINK
The Odeon, a most promising residential building in the heart of New Orleans begins construction. A sea of asphalt parking lot will become a 29 story structure that will be seen for miles, and continue the boom of downtown living. One could walk to professional sporting events, amazing restaurants, or hop the new streetcar line to the Saenger to engage with the arts.
I’m pretty excite.

Caption says construction to start in May 2018. Are they already 2 months behind schedule? Because that'd be a very NOLA thing to do

Why is nearly 70% coming from the government, or does this just mean govt loans?

Yay. More $600k 1br condos coming downtown. Not sure who’s buying these though.

Not such a bid deal.... only 29 stories? Buildings today in NY and Chicago are 4 to 5 times higher.

Section 8 living is why our tax bucks are going there.

They also have 4-5 times steadier ground to build on.

Again, another residential development out of reach of most New Orleans residents.

Gov loan with caveats.

How fast does a bullet fall from a 29 story building?

Where New York has issues with sturdy ground, they construct the most awesome city park in Central Park, whereas New Orleans will slap up a section 8 apartment building.

Because people spending 500k on a one bedroom loft are definitely going to want to live in the same building as project dwellers
