Put your best foot forward and believe you can do it—one step at a time. You’ve got sole.

You ever see an NBA player's feet? I've seen a few on tv over the years and they are not pretty. They are always getting stepped on.

How exactly do you not take care of your feet?

Took about a year of conditioning, but I finally got to where most of my mileage is in a non-cushioned, barefoot shoe with a wide toe box. I only wear a cushioned shoe when pacing hard or pacing a longer distance (10 or more miles).
Listen to the podcast. Roughly 50% of people over the age of 65 that fall and break a hip or a femur, die within a year. Falls at that age are directly correlated to big toe strength. Modern footwear is killing us.

I take care of my feet by enjoying long walks on Louisiana beaches barefoot allowing the seashells to massage my soles

I can definitely relate to your statement about the gout.
I had a major case of the gout off and on for years. Gout is no joke. I one point I had a flare up so bad that I couldn't walk for almost a month without crutches and missed a lot of work as a result.
I had to see a rheumatologist (arthritis specialist) who told me red meat, shellfish and alcohol were the main triggers for gout flare ups. I haven't had a drink in over 13 years, because its just not worth it.
I was on an every day medication of allopurinol for years to control it, until I got serious about my diet and fitness.
I wouldn't wish gout on my worst enemy. The pain of broken bones has nothing on the ruthless pain that gout produces.

I don’t remember the teeth part being big, lol. I saw some nasty teeth in the Army.

I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do for mine, but you are correct foot damage or injury sucks . I have permanent neuropathy from chemo from about the balls of my feet to all 10 toes. I can tell you it’s a bitch when you have discomfort or pain with every step. Wintertime is horrible because you feel like your toes have frostbite. Thick warm socks are my friend.

Barefoot shoes are good but buying regular shoes in the right size also helps. I suspect a lot of people end up in the wrong size nowadays with no salesperson actually taking their measurements.

I have followed this line of thinking for many years. I only wear top of the line, Made in the USA, handmade work boots. And i never wear the same pair two days in a row.
Seriously, if you're on your feet out in the elements, a pair of PNW boots from Nick's or one of the other makers are a savior. Proper arch support and more comfortable than the adh and trash stuff like Ariats and the many other Chinese bullshite brands.

While we are on the subject of feet. How does one acquire a foot fetish? I am not pro or against a woman’s foot, but it just seems weird.

You are 100% correct. I will add that you should walk. A lot. Everyday.
