Is anyone aware of any of our past coaching searches and how they played out? I can't remember the last time we hired the #1 guy on our coaching wish list.

Thanks for your transparency in telling us all how qualified you are to speak on the subject, instead of out of your arse, because you don't know shite about the game.

This breaks my heart that this takes place in our country where the weakest American citizens are viciously attacked. It also shows us the results of generations of broken children from homes void of fathers, self control and discipline. It starts in the home.

I really don't get this board.

The people here seem to have some football knowledge, but they refuse the place blame squarely on the common denominator that has overseen a horrid salary cap and not replacing top talent as it is lost to free agency, age, injuries and attrition. It is the GM's job to keep us competitive and hire the correct coach to work with toward success.

Then I see where people want to keep screaming about Sean Payton and how he left us flat. He told Mickey what to do. He called all the shots. He drafted whoever he wanted. On the whole, while the Saints coach, he was average at picking talent. He hit big on some and was horrible at picking others. As a coach, he was far too loyal to Brees in the final 2 years.

Payton has been gone 5 years now. He is off to greener pastures. The salary cap was a factor. Brees retiring, and him not coming close to finding a replacement, was a factor.

Truth is, Loomis is the longest tenured GM in the NFL by a country mile. He hired DA and the failure he was, as we continued to bleed out our best talent and sink lower into salary cap hell - AFTER PAYTON LEFT. Meaning, Loomis continued to spend like a drunken sailor despite the salary cap, long after Payton left. This makes the cap LOOMIS' BABY.

Do we have to discuss the fleecing we take in every trade we seem to make (minus Lattimore)? Giving away draft picks to trade up for guys that end up not even making the team or making zero positive impact. Loomis is not a leader. He does not make good decisions. He does not push back or play devils advocate with the coach. He is a doormat. We need a stronger leader at the top.

Where my confusion comes in is, I think most people that follow the Saints understand this, but yet I consistently see people defending Loomis as the GM. Basically giving him a full pass during the entire Payton era. It makes me wonder: Do people really think he is blameless because he is unfireable and have just accepted that there is nothing we can do, so they quit complaining about it? OR. Do people really think he is doing an outstanding job, he is just misunderstood in his position, and should be blamelessly left alone.

My point is, if the latter were true, then he should be a 1st ballot HOF as a GM. Given his tenure of longevity (20 years?), to stick around that long with 1 team, with a Super Bowl win. But I don't think ANYONE thinks that he is even remotely considered a Hall of Famer.

Arent we sick of the status quo?
