Without a coupon, prices are outrageous but with them, 7 bucks for an average tasting footlong isn’t bad

Yeah the people who told us to shut up and trust the science finally say shite like this when they want us to trust highly corrupt and compromised government officials and organizations.

frick Subway.
Here in the southeast Atlanta Metro area, I went to 2 different stores, 2 different franchises.
Both of them put 3 pieces of roast beef on a foot long sandwich.
Never again.

Lower prices were why they grew so rapidly. They are more expensive than other options now.

I mean, their ingredients are pretty terrible, outside of the bread.

Pasty "cheese", see-through meat; and that was awhile back.

I'm sure it's worse now.

The bread is terrible for you too. There's barely any actual flour involved.

Just about anywhere in S. Louisiana you can find a shrimp poboy or sloppy delicious roast beef poboy at a local cajun spot for what a subway costs now.

pub subs are really good, it can just take a very very long time to get through the line if there's even just 1 or 2 people ahead of you

Order on the app and you walk in and it is waiting for you.

It costs too goddamn much now. Subway is probably on the way out. There are too many other quick sandwich options.

Same here. AT LEAST 10 years since I've eaten there. Actually have stayed away from all fast food for a few months now. Eating more healthy and saving money eating at home.

"Average" implies that there is some tier below Subway

I don’t think been to subway since before Covid

It lost all its value as it already wasn’t that high of quality to begin with meat-wise

Those creepy “chicken” cutlets they’d nuke in the microwave to get it hot.. basically inedible

What consumers don’t understand about Subway is that it was never a restaurant. It has ALWAYS been a business model to be marketed to franchisees. The emphasis has always been on build out costs and marketing cheap food and labor at a replicable cost. Food quality is incidental. They can only survive at the bottom of the market, when quality is considered, people make better choices.

Right. Which is why they shouldn't be charging Jersey Mike's/Jimmy Johns/Firehouse prices for poorer food quality, when all Subway had going for it to begin with was their price point.

This. There are WAY TOO MANY to be profitable, especially with the amount of competition and mediocre quality.

From my house there are:
2 locations within 1 mile
4 locations within 2 miles
6 locations within 3 miles
8 locations within 4 miles.
11 locations total in Terrebonne Parish.

Not sure if this pattern is consistent through all markets, but it's entirely too much.

I have eaten subway a fair amount because the one in my town has a great manager that is involved in a lot of other businesses around town. Service has always been great and the place is spotless.

HOWEVER, I can now cook my family of 5 a Ribeye and baked potato for what it cost to feed them Subway. Just can’t do it.
