Salaries will reflect the importance society puts on each profession. We are generally and currently bassackwards with regards to what we see as most important in life.

I can only speak on this one, but depending on if they are in public accounting or private, I think public should be at least $55k for how much work staff level folks are doing.

Why would you put Navy Seal? You realize the military pays off of a paygrade system right? Sure they get a few special pays, but nothing dramatic.

Not sure if Navy seal should be included in starting salary...

Typically they are not 18 year olds fresh out of recruit training.

I would think at least $60k+ not accounting for BAH or BAS, though in reality it's based on rank.

actually, it's supply and demand.

only a handful of people can be NFL quarterbacks. so they get paid a ridiculous amount.
neuro surgeons are also highly paid because they have an elite skill set that only so many people can perform.

NFL quarterbacks make more because there are only a fraction of the QBs compared to neurosurgeons.

that combined with money they generate.
Elementary school teacher
College professor
US Navy SEAL
Police officer

these professions do not generate money (directly). so they do not make huge salaries.

people would probably pay a shite ton of money to watch the Navy SEALs wreck shite on live TV. that whole security of their missions things doesn't make that possible however. So that's why their salaries are low (i'm assuming they low and have no idea what they actually make).

False. Salaries reflect how easy or difficult it is to find someone to do a particular job competently. Whether that it's easy or hard to find someone due to ability, or due to the willingness of someone to do the job.

Teaching isn't paid less because it's less important. It's paid less because they are filling the teaching spots while only having to pay that amount.

Offshore employees may get paid more, but only because less people are willing to spend half their life on a boat in the middle of the gulf.

Police probably aren't millionaires, but no one believes they aren't important. When there's a shortage of police force applicants, the salary will change.

It has nothing to do with importance, everything to do with supply and demand.

Salaries are set by how replaceable you are. So they're pretty legit as is.

It all depends on their market and how many hours they work. Higher cost of living means higher salary. In BR working no more than 50hrs/wk:

Elementary school teacher 40k
College professor 50k
ER nurse 60k
Neuro surgeon 100k
Offshore operator 60k
NFL quarterback rookie 350k
US Navy SEAL 40k (keep in mind they get a ton of other benefits)
CPA 50k
Police officer 40k
Starbucks barista 17k
