If only you fellas could realize that this sort of low-brow name-calling could actually drive away people who signed the petition, you might not be so quick to beat your own chests.
I agree, we need to take the high road, demonstrate that we can do better, and show voters why SG can improve their lives and give them more control of their tax dollars.
Just saying we aren't Broome, Banks or Gravey isn't saying much.
But folks calling us racists and unintelligent are not helping things especially if they don't live in SG.

Yall are doing a great job of keeping my afternoon entertaining. keep it up fellas. I'm loving it. Too bad my condo won't be in St. George. I can see the taxes going up pretty high around campus to fund the rest of the trash.

Is it really racist to want to distance yourself from a geographical region rife with poverty, narcotics, and violence?

I totally agree. The problem is, the loudest supporters feel the need to insult anyone who doesn't loudly proclaim allegiance to their cause. This just puts a bad taste in the mouths of the people who you need to be attracting.

Are they high enough? Already up to #27 in overall tax burden. TX is #34 and has great infrastructure and schools.
Folks with higher tax burdens are getting a lot more bang for their buck. When will the madness of raising taxes in Louisiana end and they start using that money wisely?

We live in the city limits by about 500 yds. The end of my street is in St George. I still hope it passes because I think it will be good for the parish.
My kid is in the 6th grade already so it's very unlikely I'd change her school at this point even if we lived in SG.

Great news. I wish they'd tell us the number of signatures they got this time around. Missing by 71 votes last time was such a joke.
1400+ extra signatures this time.

I feel sorry for all the stupid people that think this is going to help.

Well said. The whole "they're breaking away" BS that TogetherBR was spewing for so long was nothing but a lie to sway the uninformed to their cause. It's sad that it's come to this...that the creation of a new city is really the last hope for EBR Parish. If it fails, more and more people will flee to Ascension and Livingston Parishes, taking their tax dollars with them. If you're a resident of the city of BR, you really should hope that St. George comes to fruition.
On a related note, if St. George fails, and Ted James, Broome, and the others who want to split the current city/parish system of government are successful, Baton Rouge is doomed. You'll have Broome or someone much like her presiding over a city council full of Chauna Banks and Gary Chambers clones.

It may not help immediately but I think once they officially get an ISD established which will take a minimum of a year to be in place, then several years to boost the education quality and several years to change parents opinion schooling has changed. No doubt in my mind they will need to increase property taxes to fund a successful ISD.

Gravy and Helmut and Slim and Chaunna and all of the other mentally-ill narcissistic asses will bitch and gripe at all of us "racists" betraying the same city that they want whites to be minimally successful. That, friends, is what the SJW mindset is.

1369 extra signatures say otherwise. I don't really care if you're for it or against it. The right to vote on it is what counts. When you have opponents who constantly brand you as racist, just sitting idly by in a contest and taking the high road will bite you in the arse every single time.

People moved out of St. George during the span of collecting signatures? Or maybe people renting signing up? Seems like a lot of rejections.
Don't discount how many fake signatures TBR instigated to torpedo the process, hoping the STG organizers wouldn't have enough surplus signatures.

So I understand all of that... but I am struggling with is the idea of how high taxes will need to be to support St. George.
If you are breaking out, that also means small number of tax payers into the system. What is that going to look like? Also, what are the taxes covering, etc.
Is there a link to the plan?
