Trust me, this time they didn't get that many. There were only 23 removals submitted. 6 signed then removed, 2 are not in St. George, and 15 never signed the petition.

You'll be fine. A lot of people in BR put their kids in private school by choice and I don't see that stopping.
Me and all of my siblings went to private school and we lived in Central in a perfectly fine public school district.

This SG city movement is not a breakaway. Unincorporated folks are simply forming a new city. Now if an ISD is formed later it would be breaking off the current, failing school system.
Some SG taxes now going to the general parish fund would go to the new city of SG to cover basic city services as outlined on the SG website.

St George is predominantly red. High voter turnout almost guarantees it will pass

What taxes would those be? Nothing local. CATS gets no revenues from City Parish General Fund.
I guess you could argue that CATS receives federal dollars and that's our money... Which is true, but that's a pretty broad brush.
Unless you live in the CATS taxing district, or you are a user of the system, you really don't pay for CATS.
Property Tax wise, nothing will change if STG happens.
STG residents will still pay for BREC and Library System. It may be possible to get out of these at sometime in the future but that's years down the line.
Eventually, once the school system crap is figured out, you may see a difference in taxing authorities.

Considering how long it’s been known when people would vote on this and with all the people supposedly against it, it wouldn’t make much sense for people to not show up to vote.

That’s the most redicilous statement. I’ve lived in my house four or five years and want a good public school to send my kid to so I don’t have to pay tuition. The one we are zoned for is a few min away and is a D or F.
I could give two fricks about a “white-topia” if that was my goal i would have never moved here from Livingston Parish. That’s the kind of random bullshite the other side will try to throw to distract from the issues. Let’s work off of facts.

You have a huge chunk of the parish currently unincorporated who are tired of being over taxed, not having their issues addressed and most importantly not have access to great public schools.

this, they had people sign, then on last day, demand their name taken off the signature list. they hoped it would help them sink the project. The numbers who did this, was so few it did nothing, it was a great FU to the brt peeps.

don’t live inside the area, but my daughter graduates from SJA this year. I hope this is the impetus of change in the EBR education system
