Louisianans get all excited that something important like this, or Disney, might come its way. Then talk about ‘what could have been’ for decades.

Reality is, it was just ‘rumors’ started at the coffee shop, or some drunken talk at a crawfish boil.

Maybe, but it has to be more than a coincidence that LA Legislature is pushing through numerous pro-aerospace bills right now.

Tax exemptions, public records exemptions, liability exemptions all being pushed through.

That's a perfect spot. Not far from Starbase, TX, to barge Starships over for launch.

Being in close proximity to the Intracoastal and the Mississippi River is a bonus. The scale at which they plan to launch in the future would necessitate easy access to raw materials and skilled labor. It could be huge for the entire region.

ULA, another commercial launch provider regularly uses the Mississippi River to barge their vehicles to Cape Canaveral for launch. They are adding another marine transport ship to their fleet late this year. It’s being built at Bollinger.

My first thought as well. If they don't build it high and build it strong, being on the dirty side of a hurricane would wipe it off the map.

Starship launches are likely the most violent conditions on Earth. I’d say they build fairly robust.

I grew up in Kaplan. Infrastructure maintenance is definitely a forgotten word.

Check the maps, LA 35 from Kaplan to Cow Island and LA 82 from Abbeville are the only land routes to the Pecan Island area. Both are typical Louisiana 2 lane highways with no shoulders and spotty maintenance. You will see grass growing in the blacktop cracks. There are a series of canals but the roads will definitely need improvement.

The worst road I’ve ever traveled was from Kaplan to Intercostal. 2 lanes of some of the worst pot holes I’ve ever witnessed on a paved road.
