Well if it does happen, maybe Elon can do something about the damn mosquitoes down there. Night time at my camp there is a PITA to be outside. But there may be some sick views from the dock watching rockets blast off at least.

*If this makes them fix the roads going down there that would be fantastic.

Would be the best thing to happen in Vermilion Parish, ever.

I don't think I've ever been to Vermillion Parish, but I would go there to see a launch.

I would think they would use it to catch the booster part of the rocket to save fuel. Then barge it back to Brownsville. I think Space X did that in the Bahamas on some heavy payloads for Falcon 9.
I think it saves fuel and lets them add payload.

There will absolutely be a buffer zone around that area which will restrict access to some awesome hunting and fishing! Kinda sucks

That's not the way it is on Boca Chica Beach at the current Starbase. It's only restricted during well noticed activity. People frequently comment on how easy it is and how close they can get to the site. It's not a secret military base.

The land is cheap and it's closer to the facility in texas that they are building the Starship rocket in.

Uhhhh….what?

They literally have launch capability AT that facility. Multiple pads.

I’ve always wanted to work for SpaceX but can’t move to Texas or Florida. I hope it’s true.

However, I only see this as a barge/recovery and fuel storage/logistics location. No reason to build a launch pad there. Maybe useful for polar launches with Starship but they can likely do that out of the Cape.

There may or may not be an NDA floating around about a project on Pecan Island.

ETA: "Potential" project.

Would be great for the area’s economy but obviously impact the wetlands and how they are currently used (mostly for recreational use with limited commercial seafood harvest).

You should see what they’re doing to the wetlands they care so much about currently in Cameron Parish

There will likely be Starship launches where the booster will be expended due to using the RTLS fuel to get Starship to a higher orbit with heavier payloads. This makes sense as most eastern launches follow a trajectory that would put them flying over south Louisiana. Like how launches at the Cape follow Easter seaboard.

A lot of duck hunting back in the 60s. LDWF had a camp at Rockefeller...we'd hunt across the road on the north side..I remember Wide World of Sports filming a segment with Rip Torn..standing next to us waiting on boats..game wardens as guides. Those ducks damn smart...flying sky high until they crossed the road and then swoop down into the marsh on the refuge...great memories.
