SNAP denial

Was in line at a local grocery store when I witnessed the lady in front of me get denied because she tried to by 4 twelve packs of soda with her EBT card and the cashier said she couldn't purchase soda with her EBT card. She marched out and I wanted to say hell yeah but I restrained myself. I guess I missed it but I wasn't aware LA was one of the states that stopped allowing the purchase of junk food and sodas with SNAP benefits. That is definitely what I voted for!

Shite is $50 for that now. Unreal.
Oh well. She can pay for it like everyone else if she wants all that soda or do without.

So much disappointment.

Hope you’re happy that children are literally starving

Last night I was at Consecos and saw someone buy $120 worth of filet and use EBT
Is that any better or worse than buying Coke?

Worse so that should be banned also.

If you can’t afford $120 of filet you should work harder
Like a person on snap does. Statistics show that the average person on snap has multiple jobs

I've been seeing signs for a while now posted at the entry of a lot of grocery and convenience stores advising that those types of items were no longer SNAP eligible

she's going to post on FB that her kid has sensory issues and only drinks soda and now he/she is dehydrated

Looks like that has been in place since February.

Now she is forced to choose between her Maxima payment or Orange Fanta.

that's an okay start....
but now, implement a nationwide limit to EBT purchases. The only remaining eligible products should be: nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables; ground beef, pork, poultry, fish, and eggs; milk, cheese, yogurt, and infant formula; rice, beans, pasta, oats, flour, bread, and potatoes; nuts, seeds, peanut butter, basic cooking ingredients, reasonably healthy cereals and frozen meals, and seeds or plants used to grow food. that's it. plenty to survive on.
we'll give you a reasonable 5-10% discuount on steak and seafood. But soda, energy drinks, candy, and gum; chips, snack cakes, cookies, and similar junk food; Restaurant meals and most hot prepared foods
Alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, supplements, and nonfood products ridiculously expensive “luxury” versions of otherwise eligible products should be completely removed from EBT.
EBT should prevent hunger and promote nutrition, not subsidize your lifestyle.

One of the things I appreciated about Calandro’s was their no EBT policy. Such a nice experience.
